"Wow, she punched her?" Isaac asked, listening
to his story.
"Yeah, right in the face! She's good!" He exclaimed.
Isaac heard Phoebe laugh. "Ok, I'll come pick
you guys up now. See ya in a few. Bye!"
Taylor said bye and hung up the phone. Isaac
went to the bottom of the stairs.
"Hey Zac!!"
He ran out of his room. "Yeah?"
"I gotta go pick Taylor and Phoebe up. Watch
Mackie, ok?"
He went over to the front door. "Ok, I will!"
Zac yelled back.
Isaac decided to pick Jessica up on the way home.
He got in the car and backed out of the driveway.
Phoebe sat down on the sidewalk beside Taylor.
She smiled a little.
"Well, this has been an exciting day." He said
looking up at the sun.
"And a hot one." She added, practically reading
his mind.
"You're not upset about the fight are you Phoebe?"
She shook her head. "No... why dwell on the past?
It's over with. I'm a little mad with myself though. I shouldn't have punched
her... I could have done something worse to my
back."
He nodded. "Yeah... really. Does it really hurt?"
"All over. But, it's not that bad. I could probably
just take my medicine and then I'll be alright." She gave him a smile in
hopes of
easing the mood a little.
He returned the smile. "Ike should be here soon."
He looked at his watch.
"AHH! This is not happening!" Isaac pulled the
car carefully over to the side of the road. He had a flat tire. He got
out to see
what he ran over. Laying in the middle of the
road was a piece of wood with a nail sticking out of it. He picked it up.
"Who would put this is the middle of the road?"
He tossed it over to the curb frustrated. He ran over to the trunk and
opened it
up.
"Oh great. No spare..." He slammed it shut. He
looked at his watch. He had one hour to pick up Jessica and he needed to
get
to Taylor now. He looked around him. He thought
about calling home... but then, what could Zac do? He sighed and locked
the car doors. He then began his journey to the
icecream shop.
"Taylor, it's been fifteen minutes since you called
Ike. Doesn't it only take like five minutes to get here by car?"
He looked around worried. "Yeah... I hope he's
ok."
"Should we just walk home?" She asked.
"No. I don't want you to walk. He'll be here...
don't worry." He held her hand while they waited.
Isaac wiped the sweat from his forehead. He took
a deep breath when he saw them sitting on the sidewalk still waiting.
"Hey!! I'm over here!" He yelled out to them.
Taylor looked up and waved. They both walked
over to him... Phoebe walking a little slow.
"Ike, where's the car?" He asked confused.
"I got a flat tire and we have no spare in the
trunk. I just had to walk."
Taylor looked so sweaty and tired. "Well... what
are we going to do about Phoebe? She can't walk home." He said to Isaac.
"I feel stupid guys. I have caused all this trouble."
Taylor shook his head. "No, those bratty girls
did."
Isaac pushed his hair off his face. "I have an
idea. I'll just piggy back ride her halfway, and then you do it the rest
of the way
Tay."
"Ok, that's cool."
She laughed. "You guys are nice... but this will
look so funny."
Isaac grinned. "Hop on! We gotta get home."
She hopped on his back (with a little help from
Taylor) and held on. "Here we go." He stepped off the sidewalk and starting
walking.
Taylor walked beside her. After about ten minutes,
Isaac stopped and adjusted her.
"Am I too heavy?" She asked.
"No, you were just slipping a little."
Taylor gave her a smile. "I can piggy back her
now."
Isaac stopped. "Ok."
She hopped off. "I'm so sorry it is taking us
forever to get home."
"Nah, it's no problem. Ike help her on."
He went behind her and helped her up. Taylor
grabbed her legs.
"Ok, here we go again."
"I bet Zac is freaking out." Isaac said with
a laugh.
"Maybe your mom is home by now." Phoebe commented.
"Yeah... maybe. She should be."
Taylor looked at the street sign. "Ok cool. Only
one more street over. This didn't take too long."
She smiled. Her back was still hurting, but she
didn't want to complain.
Diana had come home and Avery was asleep. She
was sleepy from being so nervous. Mackie was still napping and now Zoe
joined him. Zac explained to his mom that Isaac
wasn't back yet.
"Don't worry about it. Maybe he took them somewhere."
He sighed. "Maybe. I'm going back up to my room
now. Call me if you need me!"
She gave him a smile and he pounded up the stairs.
His window was open and he heard voices. He looked out the window and
saw them all coming down the street.
"Why don't they have the car??" He said aloud.
He turned around and ran back down the stairs.
He opened the front door and went down the sidewalk to them.
"What are you guys doing?" He asked, thoroughly
confused.
Taylor stopped walking and Phoebe got off. "The
car had a flat and I had no spare." Isaac explained.
"Oh that sucks."
Then he had another quesiton. "Why were you piggy
backing Phoebe, Taylor?"
She laughed a little. "She got in a fight at
the icecream shop with Macy and Tisha and she hurt her back a little."
Zac felt furious when he heard Macy's name. "No
way... she is the cause of all this??" He asked feeling angry.
They all nodded. He shook his head. "I can't
stand her."
Isaac looked at his house. "Mom is home. We need
to go get the car. Come on. We'll all talk about this later."
Everyone agreed to let it go for right now. Then,
they all went inside to talk to Diana about the car.
Diana listened to what had happened. It was no
problem... she'd just call a tow truck. Isaac went with her to pick up
Jessica,
and then to the car so they could meet the truck.
Phoebe walked over to her house and took her medicine. Her Mom had left,
so she had to use her key. Taylor waited outside
his house for her to return. A short while later, she walked back over.
"Hey. Are your parents home?" He asked looking
at the empty driveway.
"No. I found a note on the fridge... they had
to go to the set for an extra shoot. They should be home in about two hours."
He smiled. "Do you wanna hang out here while
they are gone?"
"Yeah sure! That would be great."
He put his arm around her. "Let's go inside...
it's really hot out here."
She agreed and walked with him inside the house.
Diana pulled up at Joey's house. "I'll go get
her. Be back in a sec!" Isaac said and hopped out of the car.
Diana shook her head and smiled. She knew something
was up. He knocked on the door and a short while later, Mrs. Foster...
their mother, answered.
"Hi! I'm Jessie's brother Isaac. I'm here to
pick her up."
She smiled. "Ok, I'll go and get her. Why don't
you come in?" She opened the door up wider and he walked in.
"Thank you." He said with a smile.
He watched her go up the stairs. Maddy walked
out of the kitchen just then.
"Maddy, hi!"
She looked surprised to see him in her living
room.
"Hi!" She looked at him a little confused. "I
thought we weren't going out until eight?"
He grinned a little. "We still are. I'm just
here to pick Jessie up."
"That's right. Did my Mom go get her?"
He started to answer, but stopped, when he saw
Jessica walk down the stairs with Joey and her Mom. Maddy turned around
and saw them too.
"Bye Jessie. We'll so you soon!" She gave her
a hug.
Joey walked Jessica to the door. "Bye Jessica.
It was nice having you stay." Mrs. Foster said.
She gave her a smile. Isaac picked up her bags.
"Well, I'll see you in a couple of hours then." He flashed her a big smile.
She blushed. "I'll be waiting."
Jessica was grinning from ear to ear. "Let's
go Ike. Mom's waiting."
She ran outside to the car.
"Bye Isaac."
He gave her a wave and closed the door on his
way out. Her stomach jumped. She was really excited about their "date".
Phoebe sat on the floor in Taylor's bedroom. They
were playing war with his cards. He put down a King of Clubs.
"See if you can top that!" He exclaimed with
a smile.
She laughed. She slapped down an Ace of Spades.
"Haha!" She took the two cards and added them to her pile.
They had been playing this game for almost ten
minutes. "Does this game ever end?" He asked.
She shrugged. "Maybe... why don't you just forfeit?"
She grinned at him.
"Yeah right! Why don't you forfiet?"
She rolled her eyes and giggled. "I'm winning
and you're losing. It only makes sense."
He put down a Two of Hearts. She put down a Queen
of Diamonds.
"Man! You did something to the deck, right?"
He asked.
"Nope... I'm just better at this game." She took
the two cards.
He looked at his cards. He had three left. "Well,
maybe I will forfiet."
She laughed. "I win! I win! Yeah baby, yeah!"
He started laughing. "Nice Austin Powers thing
you got going there." He reached over and tickled her stomach.
"Oh no... Taylor I can't stand to be tickled..."
He tickled her again. "... I will so totaly kill
you..."
She was laughing obnoxiously at this point. He
had pinned her down and was tickling her stomach all over.
"STOP!!! AHH! I can't take it anymore!!"
He was laughing so hard at Phoebe.
"Jordan Taylor Hanson... you are going to pay,
I swear!"
He ignored her and still tickled. Just then the
door opened and Zac came in the room. He stopped and dropped his mouth
open.
"What are you doing to her Taylor!"
He stopped tickling and looked at him confused.
"Nothing..."
Zac rolled his eyes. She sat up and shoved him
off of her, still laughing.
"It's nothing Zac. He just wanted to tickle me."
He shrugged. "Well, you two look crazy. Anyway...
I want to work on the computer and I need to be alone."
Taylor helped her up. "Ok, we'll leave then."
He took her hand.
"Bye Zac." She said.
He waved and sat down at the computer.
Phoebe walked back outside to the porch. The air
was getting a little cooler. The sun would be set a little after eight.
"So, what do you want to do now?" Taylor asked
her.
She shrugged. "I don't know. Have any ideas?"
He returned the shrug. "Well... maybe we can
just go up in the treehouse for a while. And it's shady up there." He suggested.
She smiled at that idea. "Sure!"
They walked over to the side gate and went into
the backyard. "I haven't been up here in a while." She said gazing up at
the
treehouse.
He smiled at her. He loved it when she talked
about the treehouse. He climbed up and then helped her up.
"What should we talk about?" She asked once she
was comfy against the tree.
He joined her. "I don't know... doesn't it seem
like every time you try to think of something to talk about, you never
can?"
She laughed. "Yeah really! Why is that?"
He looked up at the sky. "I don't know... wow
look you can barely see the moon!" He pointed up.
She looked up at the sky and spotted it. "A full
moon tonight I see." She commented.
Just then, they heard some voices nearby. Taylor
looked around to see where it was coming from.
"I hear voices. Do you Tay?"
He nodded. "It sounds like it is coming from
over there." He pointed to the side gate that led to their backyard.
Phoebe crawled over to the side of the treehouse
and looked over the edge.
"The gate is opening!" She whispered.
"Maybe it's Zac or Ike. No one else can reach
the latch."
She listened again. "Well, not unless their voices
suddenly went up a few octaves! Those are girl voices."
The gate opened up the rest of the way and Macy
and Tisha walked into the backyard.
"What are they doing here!!!" He exclaimed.
"Shh! I want to see what they are doing!"
Macy walked over to the other side of the yard
with Tisha close behind her. She had a small baggy in her hand. "What the
heck
does she have??!!" Taylor asked looking confused.
Phoebe stared as she went over to the garden
that Diana had planted. She tored open the baggy a little, sprinkled the
substance
over the flowers, and then she took a spoon out
of her pocket.
"Is she going to eat your garden now??" She exclaimed.
He didn't answer. He was too busy watching Macy.
She bent down and dug a small hole in the fresh dirt. It was very easy
because the dirt was so new and fresh. Tisha
looked around to make sure that nobody was watching. Macy stuck the baggy
in
the hole and covered it up. Then she and Tisha
made a run for for the gate.
Taylor and Phoebe stared at each other.
"What in the world did she put there??" She asked
a little upset.
He shrugged. "I don't know... but it has to be
something bad."
"I'm going to get Zac!" She jumped up and went
over to the ladder.
He followed her. They walked across to the gate
and went back around to the porch. Taylor opened up the door and went up
the stairs with her.
"Zac! I need to come in. This is important."
He said once he reached their bedroom.
"Ok, coming!" He opened the door a few seconds
later. "What? What is it?" He asked.
"Macy and her friend Tisha came into our backyard
and stuck this baggy full of... I don't know what into mom's garden."
She nodded her head as Taylor explained things.
"She did WHAT? That girl is insane. Ok, we have
to find out what it is." He went over to his closet and started digging
through.
"Zac... what are you doing?" Taylor asked looking
at the clothes he was tossing all over the room.
"I need to get... ahh! Here they are!" He held
up two bright yellow rubber gloves. He put them on his hands.
"I'm not even going to ask where you got those
from." She said trying not to laugh.
"What's the point of the gloves Zac?"
He rolled his eyes. "Tay, I am wearing them so
I don't have to touch the baggy when we dig it up. We have no idea what's
in
there."
Phoebe heard a loud beeping outside. She went
over to the window.
"Wow, that was fast. Your mom is home and so
is the car."
Taylor looked out the window. "Huh, that was
fast."
Zac looked under his bed and pulled out a sand
shovel. She laughed.
"Jeez Zac! You have like everything in your room!"
He smiled, proud of himself. Taylor took one
more look out the window.
"Lets go now while mom is still busy. We need
to hurry."
Isaac walked Jessica into the house and left his
mom to deal with the tow truck guy.
"Go put your things upstairs and bring down your
dirty clothes." He said to her.
"Ok, I will." She pounded up the stairs.
Diana came in a few minutes later.
"I'll be right down... I'm going to check on
the kids."
Jessica came to the top of the stairs holding
Zoe. "Mom! She is awake now."
Diana walked up the stairs. "I see... here baby."
She took Zoe and went with her back into the nursery.
Avery and Mackie were awake now and followed
her into the room. Isaac noticed that the house was a little too quiet.
"Taylor! Zac!" He yelled out.
He listened for an answer. Nothing. "Oh well."
He sat down and flipped on the t.v.
"Be careful Zac!" She said when he knelt down
to observe.
"Phoebe, I'm not doing anything yet."
Taylor looked at the flowers and remembered something.
"Oh yeah Zac... they also sprinkled that junk all over the flowers, so
don't touch anything you don't have to."
He laughed a little. "I have on gloves."
Phoebe got on her knees beside him. Taylor did
the same. "Ok, I think she put the baggy here." Zac pointed to a place
in the
dirt that was not flat.
"Ok, yeah that looks like it." Taylor agreed.
"Well, dig it up!" She exclaimed.
He took a deep breath and stuck the shovel in.
He didn't have to dig very far. Macy and Tisha didn't dig a deep hole.
His
shovel hit the baggy. He lifted it out of the
ground. Taylor and Phoebe stared at it.
"Well... what could it be?"
Zac shrugged. It was white and powdery. "Should
we open it up?" Taylor asked.
"We should. I mean, how else can we figure out
what it is?"
She nodded her head. Zac held the baggy in his
hand and dumped it out into the shovel. It kinda sparkled.
He smiled a little when he saw it sparkle. He
took off his glove.
"No Zac! It could be poison!" She exclaimed,
looking worried.
"I have to touch it!"
Taylor looked at him and then at the white substance
in the shovel. "Ok, just do it. You can always wash your hands."
She sighed. He picked up a little and rubbed
it in between his fingers. Then he tasted it.
"ZAC! Oh my god! How could you do that!" She
yelled.
Taylor looked like he was in shock. Zac just
busted out laughing. "You guys! Do you know what this is? It's sugar! She
put
sugar in our garden."
Their mouth's dropped open. "Sugar??!!" They
asked at the same time.
"Yes! She probably just did this to scare someone
if they found it." He picked up the shovel.
Taylor took a deep breath and smiled a smile
of relief. Phoebe rubbed her forhead and laughed.
"Well, she did a good job at it!" She exclaimed.
Taylor stood up and brushed off his jeans. "Let's
just throw this crap away. We have a little planning to do." He rubbed
his
hands together and smiled mischievously.
"Taylor! Should we?" She asked a little unsure.
Zac nodded his head and giggled. Taylor grinned.
"Oh yes... we should and we are."
Isaac turned off the t.v and went into the kitchen.
Diana came in a few seconds later with Mackie.
"Mom have you seen Taylor or Zac?"
She got out a pot and shook her head. "No, I
haven't. They must be around though. Why don't you go check the treehouse.
They are probably up there." She smiled and and
went about cooking dinner.
He shrugged and decided he'd look for them there.
"Taylor, um, I'm not sure if we can pull that
off. I mean, that's crazy!" She crossed her arms.
Zac rolled his eyes, for what seemed like the
millionth time that day. "Phoebe! You put down every idea that we come
up with.
It can work!"
Taylor put his hand on his shoulder to ease his
mood. "Calm down Zac. We will all agree on something."
"Agree on what?" Isaac asked, stepping beside
Phoebe.
Taylor looked around nervously. "Uh... nothing
Ike. Nothing at all."
Phoebe and Zac nodded their heads and laughed
a little. He eyed them curiously. "Well... whatever then. I was just coming
out
here to make sure you weren't dead or something."
He laughed at his own joke.
She smiled at him. "We're all breathing!" She
exclaimed.
He turned and started walking off. "I'll be leaving
soon. Don't touch my stuff Zac."
He looked shocked. "What? I don't touch your
stuff!" He lied.
Isaac just waved his hand and went back into
the house.
Taylor sighed. "We do not want Ike to know anything.
Not that we can't trust him. It's just that this doesn't concern him at
all."
She put her hands in her pockets. "So, what are
we going to do about her? We don't even know where she lives."
Taylor thought for a moment. "Well, she has to
live around here somewhere! Maybe we can find her somewhere... and then
follow her home or something."
He didn't look to happy about his own idea. Zac
looked around. "Maybe she lives near the pond. She was over there
swimming the first time I saw her."
She was about to say something when she heard
some people giggling. "Who is that?"
Taylor looked around and saw some girls. "Let's
go!" They all ran over to the side gate.
Macy and Tisha were walking down the street.
It looked like the never even went home. Taylor jumped up and clapped hands
with Zac. "How lucky are we man!"
She grinned.
"Now's our chance to follow her." He said staring
at them.
She looked up at the sky. "Ok, I'll do this,
but we can't be gone for long. It will be dark by eight."
He rubbed his hands together and Zac looked all
flushed from excitement. Phoebe opened the gate up and stepped outside
with them.
Macy and Tisha were just out of their eyesight.
"Ok, lets move..." Taylor walked slowly around and down the driveway.
"Keep a lookout Zac." He looked over at a huge
tree in a front yard. He was about to go hide behind it, when Macy stood
back up and started walking. Phoebe let out her
breath. Taylor wiped the sweat from his forhead. Zac looked behind them
to
make sure no one was looking. "Ok, let's go again."
He whispered.
They all started walking slowly. Zac rubbed his
nose. It was itching. He sniffed a little. Then he felt his eyes water
up. "Taylor...
I'm going to... sneeze!" He whispered a little
too loud.
Macy and Tisha stopped walking. "Do you hear
something?" Macy asked.
"No, do you?"
Macy looked behind them. "I guess it was nothing."
Tisha looked at the front yards. "Ok, let's go."
She said when everything looked fine with her.
Taylor popped his head up over the bush. Phoebe
and Zac were laying on the ground in a yard. "Ok, it's all clear." He
whispered to them.
Zac got ready to get up and then he sneezed.
Taylor quickly ducked.
"I just heard someone sneeze." Tisha said, looking
behind them again.
"I know! Me too. Are there any windows open in
this house? Maybe we heard someone who's in there." Macy reliped.
She shrugged. "Well, whatever. Let's just go
home."
Taylor looked over the bush again. They had started
walking once more. "Ok, now get up... and don't sneeze."
She stood up slowly and walked around the bush
with then. Macy and Tisha turned a corner. They all ran up to the corner
and
peeked around the large tree that was hanging
over the sidewalk.
"Ok, I think they might live down here. We should
just watch from here now." He said, keeping his eyes on them. Phoebe
watched as Macy and Tisha walked up a driveway
and to the porch. Macy opened the door and they both went inside.
"Yes!!" Taylor exclaimed. He gave everyone a
high five. Zac giggled. "This is so cool. I feel like we are on a mission!"
Phoebe and Taylor laughed. "Well, in a way we
are. They will get what they are asking for."
He put his arm around her. Zac laughed. "Revenge.
I love it!"
Jessica sat on Isaac's bed and watched him look
through his closet. He held up a green sweater with a blue stripe. She
stuck
her tounge out at it. "Eww, way to warm Ike."
He looked at it again. "Yeah, you're right. What
about this?"
She looked thoughtfully at the short-sleeved
tan and navy-blue striped shirt. He loved stripes. "Hmm, I like that one.
It's cool
looking."
He smiled and tossed it in the chair. "Ok, now
pants... let's see..."
She looked at her stubby nails while he looked
at his jeans. A few seconds later, he held up some dark blue jeans by Rusty.
"Oh, I like those. They always look cool on you."
He smiled. "Alright then. I will just wear this.
Thanks Jessie. You're a big help." He tickled her stomach a little. She
giggled.
"Ok, now I gotta change. Tell mom I'll be down
in a little while."
She hopped off the bed and went over to the door.
"Ok, I will. Byyyyeeee!" She shut it on her way out.
Isaac took off his shirt and started getting
dressed.
Zac sat with them on the steps. Phoebe saw her
mom pull up. "Wow, she's home a little early!" She exclaimed. "I'm gonna
go
now."
She stood up. Taylor got up too. "What time do
you want me over tomorrow?" She asked.
"Well... ten if you can. We need to start early."
She agreed and hugged and kissed him goodbye.
Zac watched them and then shook his head. It
was kinda cool seeing him like that. He cared so much.
"Bye Phoebe! See you later!" He called out as
she went down the driveway. She gave him a wave.
Mrs. Blue gave Phoebe a hug once she was over
there. Taylor looked at Zac. "Let's go in now and start planning. This
will be
so much fun!"
He looked like a little kid right then. Zac laughed.
"Yeah man. This will be awesome!" He punched Taylor in the arm playfully.
"You better watch it little man..." He warned
with a smile. Zac darted in front of him and went in the house. He looked
over at
Phoebe's house once more before joining him inside.
