SUGGESTED READINGS INTRODUCTION After eight years in seclusion, some call them "the lost years", 1974 found Dylan back on the road with a tour of North America backed by The Band. 1974 was also the year when Dylan's marriage to Sara first broke up. This is documented in BLOOD ON THE TRACKS which is recorded in the fall. 1. CALENDAR Jan 3 - Feb 14 American tour with The Band. One example is Boston Jan 14. So far these tapes have been exactly 90 minutes from the start of the show including the Band's first set. The Last Dylan set with the band and the encores are missing. Recommended shows: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Philadelphia January 6, afternoon Memphis January 23 Inglewood February 14 Rare songs from this tour: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I Went Out One Morning - the only live performance of this song Hero Blues - two live performances of this unreleased song from 1962 with rewritten lyrics. Fourth Time Around - after this single acoustic version there has only been one more, in Syracuse September 22, 1978. Desolation Row - also pretty rare, one acoustic also in 1984. Visions Of Johanna - it took Dylan 15 years to try this one again, once electric in 1988 and 1989, and once acoustic in 1989 and 1990. Songs from PLANET WAVES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tough Mama three first shows only, then dropped in favor of Tom Thumb. Nobody 'Cept You played only at the first part, later replaced by Just Like A Woman no studio out-take of this song is circulating, but is most certainly from the PLANET WAVES sessions Forever Young started the electric part of the second set in every show Something There Is About You the penultimate song in the second set during the first 25 shows, then suddenly replaced by Highway 61 for the rest of the tour. A pity. Wedding Song performed in the solo set at ten shows, mostly in the latter part of tour.
