I'm sitting here at my computer again,
writing a poem for the millennium.
I'll try not to make it too long today,
for you've probably had it with y2k.
My reason for writing is very clear
I'm here to tell you about something so dear,
It's about the Christ Child,
who was born so long ago
He was born to die for our sins,
you know this story does not make a fool of us,
by telling us to buy up bunches of stuff.
Stuff we were told to buy to keep us safe,
when the millennium bug struck our place.
The story is no fable my friend
I know you've heard it over and over again.
But to me it never loses its appeal
because this story is something very real.
You know the story I'm talking about.
The one that makes you want to jump and shout.
The one where the baby in the manager does lay
upon a lowly bed made of some hay.
So, before you get to rushing all about,
getting all tired and putting on a pout,
please, remember what Jesus did for all men.
And the fact that he died for all our sins.
And so, in closing I'd like to say,
I hope you've enjoyed my poem today.
But what's important is to remember the reason
that we are celebrating this great Holiday season.
