SOARS was created on July 24, 1999. On August 2nd we became an official Webring. SOARS was created by 5 of us that are friends and also Survivors.
There are other Drunk Driving Support sites on the WWW, but we wanted to broaden our horizons a bit. There are more victims out there than just Drunk Driving Survivors and those injured by Drunk Driving. What about the Survivors of Binge Drinking, accidental overdose, those who have lost loved ones to suicide because of Alcohol, etc...? They deserve the same Support as we do. After all they are Survivors as well.
The Largest victims of alcohol related incidents are Police Officers. The tragedy that has struck many of you, has struck them many more times. They live and sleep with the ghosts of too many victims. Their minds are filled with images that nobody should ever have to see, and the memories of having had to deliver messages that no one should have to deliver. Their bodies carry the scars from Loved ones who have actually clawed them bloody while screaming in pain, and all they could do was hold them. Yet there is rarely any mention of THEM being victimized by these idiots of alcohol. Police Officers have to live with the images and memories of the destruction caused by alcohol, every day of their lives.
