Planxty Chieftains

Planxty Chieftains

Through the Irish mist
A piper's soliloquy floats above the dew drenched land
Calling, summoning allies of musical magic
In the morning dew, the piper is joined
A fiddle times two singing a sweet melody
They seek out a lark
A flute calls back, the din is joined
A harp, classical and serene
A rumble is heard
A Bodhran thunders a beat for all to hear
A voice is heard singing a tune of pathos or merriment
Together they blend a cornucopia of sound
To dazzle the ears and entice the toes
They nurture a sound more than a decade times three
These musical alllies have frequented many a land
Playing upon stage, small screen and silver
They have impressed the masses and honors endowed
Admirers have been many
A gift of Irishness is given upon association with others
Musical magic ensures survival of Eire's musical tradition
