Winter's Dance

Winter's Dance

Winds of winter howling and playing
Snow dancing a symphony of white
The rising white envelopes man and beast
Symphonic whistles, banging and howling
Snow is frenzied
Carving and designing a desired shape
Winds relent and white slows its dance
A wee reminder is left of the show
Glistening snow and chattering teeth

The winter of 1996-97 had no fewer than 9 blizzards and dumped over 100 inches of snow in the area. More than 2.5 times our normal snowfall. The last three pictures are taken in February 1997 and show the scenes of large snow piles about the area. Note the height of the snow drifts. The last picture is taken on the street from my car window.
