 iers Anthony has written many different books over the years, starting in 1963. His talents run from sci/fi to fantasy...and it's the fantasy that I prefer in his writings. He has written three outstanding series *in my opion*
Xanth This series takes place in what appears to look suspeciously like Florida. In Xanth you'll find many different creatures from harpies to cenitars along of course with the human element. In the stories you'll find not only magic but humor as well that appeals to both young and old. Piers Anthony, in this series, has incorporated ideas from his fans..something which is refreshing...and he is sure to acknowledge them. Each book can stand on it's own as well, which is something very nice since I tend to get books out of order at times. Phaze This series takes elements from both the world of science and of magic creating dual worlds, where everyone has a 'twin' on the other world, and only if that 'twin' no longer exists, then you are capable of passing back and forth between the worlds. It's fun to read the problems that come from knowing a person in one world but they have no idea who you are in the other world..after all..even with real twins..personalities aren't always alike. Incarnates of Immortality This I have to say is perhaps my favorite of all Piers Anthony's writings. In this series, he takes the basic elements of 'death' 'time' 'war' 'mother nature' 'god' 'devil' *and there's one more and I can't remember it off hand!* and he tells each of their stories, bringing them to the status of 'real people', personalizing them. He intertwins his characters throughout the books so by the last book And Eternity every idea that you've read, comes together wonderfully! Once again, this is a stand alone series, if you pick a book up out of order, you will not be lost.
