New Season!!

It's time for a new season! I'll try to keep you updated as the weeks go by. If you want to see the last season, go to BOWLING2003-2004 for last season's stats. Here we go.

August 23

Well, we're off to a great start! Tim is on vacation at the beach, and didn't bowl. Al injured his thumb and will miss this week and next week. So it was Mike, John, and myself. Also, we bowled "Dead Zone" who was the best team average-wise last season. So things weren't looking good. We expected to start 0-3 like last season. So the first game was underway. John and I tore the lanes apart. Mike also did pretty good. The other team was doing good as well. But in the end, I bowled 266, John 267, and Mike 179. Plus Tim's 157(ten less than avg.) and Al's 172(also, ten pins under avg.) We won by 15 pins! We were pretty happy! Second game, John and I slowed down a bit, bowling 201's each. Mike bowled mid 180's. We ended up winning by 30 or so pins. Third game was crazy. A bowler on their team made it to the 10th frame without missing a strike. John was little tired and sore, so he bowled a 179. Mike was above avg again, and I bowled my first 700 series EVER with a 251. But that wasn't enough to get the third win. We lost by 50 or so. We were just happy to get 2 wins, considering two of us weren't there. But anywho, here's what it came down to for me. Tenth frame, 203 in the 8th frame and a spare in the ninth. I needed to either strike off the bat and guarantee the 233 I needed. Or, I needed to spare and then keep it on the lane. I threw the ball, it went right on my mark, and knocked the damn pins over! I felt so relieved. I had never been close to a 700 series before, so to not screw up my first chance at a 700 series was nice! I ended up with a 718. 239 avg. going into the second week. That won't help our team out handicap wise, but I'm sure it'll go down to where it should be, upper 180's low 190's.

August 30

This week we bowled Friends. Last year we didn't do too well against them. I think we might've won 1 game out of 6. They aren't an awesome team, we just always seem to have a bad week when we bowl them. This year doesn't look like it's going to be any different. With my avg. up WAY too high, we didn't get any handicap. In fact, we gave them 107 pins! Usually we're the ones getting handicap. Our first game was pretty good, thanks to John, Mike, and Tim. Al wasn't back yet, and I sucked. We lost by 20 or so. Second and third game weren't even close. We lost by over a hundred the second game, and 150 the third game. Mike was the only one to bowl over his avg. My avg. went from a 239 to a 196. Not too good, but at least we'll be closer to our real team avg.

September 13

This week we bowled Elks. Didn't bowl last week. Labor day, in case you aren't an American and don't know about our Holidays. We didn't do too bad! We won 2 games, and lost the 3rd game by less than 10 pins! I bowled better. Still not my average, but closer to it than the previous week. Tim and John also bowled above average! Usually this team dominates, but we must've caught them on a bad week. :) That's cool though, usually we're the ones having the bad week against a team on their good week.

September 20

Tonight it was Hoby's Hoagies turn to get the beat down by the Allo St. Posse! Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad right? We started out pretty good. Well, my team did. I was below avg. the first game. Mike and Al are what saved us. We won by 34 the first game. They turned up the heat the second game, beating us by 124 pins! We bowled okay, slightly below avg, but they just bowled awesomely. Then we got back to our rhythm the third game. Al had to bowl out because he worked. He didn't do too well, bowling a 141, but the rest of us bowled awesome! Our low man was Tim with a 203! We won by over 100! We are off to a pretty decent start. 6-6. Last year at this time we were 6-6. We'll have to see how weeks 5 through 34 go though. :)

Well, come back in a week to check the stats for week 5.
