Not
only will there be just news bout me, but also other stuff which could
be of interest to any of you pple out there!
Myself :
Okay, this is not another introductory page bout moi, coz most of my introduction are in the Myself page . This will just allow those who know me but hardly see me or for friends from Ngee Ann Poly who are close to me who has no time to call me or catch up with me.
10th Jan 1999 :
First things first : I'm no longer studying in the premises of Ngee Ann Poly coz I'm now attached to NUH for the Medical Laboratory Sciences option, another pathway of Biotechnology. And please...for the last time! I'm not going there to be a MissY!!! Sorriez to those who are nurses, no offense meant, being a nurse is a very humble and noble profession, but ignorant people just thinks that hospitals are made up of just doctors and nurses only and no others, You can say we are the background people...heh.
Well, the people who
make up the MLS class aka MLS 9 ( we are the 9th batch)
are Rossman, Angela,
Tiam Joo aka TJ , Bee Sim, and me! We are the smallest batch to date compared
to the past years' batches. For those who had or still have the misconception
that MLS is tough , boring, isolated , etc ( negatively). So far, I believe
for sure that I had made the right choice. It can be true that we do the
same tests everyday, BUT each and every patient's case are different from
one another.
Now, Bee Sim and I
are attached to the Clinical Microbiology Lab, TJ is at the Clinical Chemistry
Lab and Angela and Rossman are attached to the Hematology Lab.
In the Microbio Lab
are also made up of different sections, i.e. Urine bench, Central Processing,
URT, Stool, Pus, Blood. I'm now currently in the Urine bench while Bee
Sim is at the Central Processing aka known as CP.
In the Urine bench,
i don't handle the actual Urine sample, but with the sample which was transferred
unto the CLED plate where the organisms had already been grown. I had to
learn how to interpret the Urine results, learnt to deduce whether the
microbe is Gram Positive Cocci aka GPC or Gram Negative Rods aka GNR, and
for the various deduction do the appropriate tests for the suspicions.
Well, so far, my supervisor, Helen, said that I'm doing well and that I'm
a fast learner ( I'm not being boastful or proud) and I'm enjoying what
I'm learning and had really learned a lot of things within just 4 days!!
( K.K and E-Jean: If you are reading this, I hope that both of you will
rest assured and not worry too much, coz in fact I'm enjoying and taking
pride in whatever I'm learning and doing, hope I can make you guys proud
of me.)
Okay, enough of all the cheemology. Most of the NUH staff are very warm and friendly people, so I didn't feel so lonely being there, though I really missed you guys aka K.K Wai Yin, E-Jean, Mark, Benjamin, Robert, Eng Kiat, Wilson, the rest of 1F05( I didn't list all the names, I scared later miss out some pple then I MATI!), 2F02 and basically all the pple whom I hung out with the past year in NP. We are also given free locker space ( bigger than the ones we have in NP), two lab coats with a designer label, get to have our lab coats sent to the laundry, get to eat food or snacks with coffee or tea, have our own notice board, urm...oh! We are also not so stressed there, I mean that is how I feel, or perhaps I have yet to experience the rest of the labs yet.
I guess that's all
for now. Haven't really thought of what to really tell you guys. Perhaps
maybe next time? I'll try to meet up with you pple real soon. And yes,
I'll try to get my pics scanned as soon as possible =þ
