How could I be such a fool?
I liked you and looked past the truth.
I let you use my heart in a game of pool.

Why didn't I listen to reason?
You were from a group apart from mine.
For you to so much as talk to me is treason.

I knew I could never win your heart,
So, why, oh why, did I ever try?
I was to this as a bullseye is to a dart.

I put myself through all this pain.
It hurts so much, how could I do this to myself?
I thought I had nothing to lose and everything to gain.
