For all the raging against the education system here in the United States, most of you
have seemed to accept its definition of communism and that it is a failure. Want to learn
something new, especially Catherine, Christian and James, who backed down about communism
in America? State capitalism. Basically, the state, as in communism, owns the means of
production, but it does not run them in the interest of the working class -- like the USSR
was run as an industrial war machine competing against the US. Tanks a plenty but no food.
People already pointed out the US's role in the defeat of Lenin's workers' state in the
USSR, but no one mentioned that more than a dozen capitalist countries which actually
invaded Russia after WWII during its civil war -- countries which had an interest in not
letting the revolution spread internationally into their countries -- and how this war
killed off most of the leaders of the revolution. (Or that "Red Terror" resulted
from "White Terror" in the civil war). Further, Stalin's idea of communism in
one country (and any Maoist variation: China, Cuba) totally contradicts Marx's clear
definition of communism being the international control of the working class over the
means of production, i.e., it has never really existed but for brief periods. Before the
defeat of the revolution in Russia, Lenin ended discrimination against women, made divorce
accessible to women, allowed free abortion on demand, removed laws outlawing
homosexuality, started communal kitchens and cleaning so women didn't have to slave at
home and in the workplace, and the masses flocked to the theater which was no longer for
the wealthy elite but free. Those are some of the great things communism achieved, even if
briefly. Similar situations existed at the Paris Commune and even to a certain extent in
the US in Minneapolis during the great Teamster strike of 1936 during which the workers
actually controlled and ran the city. To Christian: reformism and the Democratic party
have been the death bed of every political movement in US. And all those little that were
made are now disappearing. Write your Congressman, but don't expect an answer unless you
have a good size check in there. Catherine, you're not "an idealist socialist"
or whatever you called it but are caught up in consumerism -- think boycotting will work?
Tell that to workers who fought a corporate campaign at Staley and are still without jobs.
Not buying their products does nothing to the ruling class stopping them from producing
the products does. And if this involves violence, so be it. Pacifists should check out
Orwell's bit on Gandhi -- the great pacifist who said Jews should have commited suicide
instead of fighting against the Nazis. Where the Jews in the Warsaw ghettos wrong or
Gandhi? Somehow, most of you believe communism will never succeed because it's
"against human nature." Then tell me, if people are naturally greedy and bad,
how do you explain even one act of human kindness? Figure out where you learned this
garbage and really know your enemy!

First of all to EVERYBODY, I am not a HUGE supporter of communism. I have read little of
Marx and Engels but have read enough to understand it. I would not even go far enough to
call my self a communist. All I wish to say to people is that before you say that
communism is terrible, look at why it is terrible. Look at the way the United States has

I just read the Evil Empire speech by Ronald Reagan and I was not surprised to see lots
and lots of lies and half truths. One such half-truth was the thing about Soviets being
barbarians because they used poison gas on Afghanistan or something of that nature. But
one decade before, the United States had bombed the hell out of Hanoi, not discriminating
from civilians and military personnel. This is just one of the many half-truths aka lies
that the corrupt money controlled government tells us citizens. that is why we need some

I think the government has no control especially over the schools curriculum. They send
us to school to learn crap that has no meaning and "one sided stories" I have
the same oppinion as the band and try to tell friends and speak of it in the middle of

I think that we need to downsize the federal government. It's too damn big. We are
wasting money. Look at Compton, CA. It's hell. 1 out of 5 people don't make it to age 25.

he was governer for Arkansas, there was a drug trade at an airport that could not have

i believe that we shouldn't "overthrow the government", i mean, capitalism is
perfect, and I don't believe any "ism" is, but capitalism works the best
probably. Communism is a good theory but it doesn't work in real life. i believe taking
action could be donating to the Leonard Peltier defense fund, helping the poor, or
something as simple as writing to cliton or congress, or having newsletters, and organize
protests. I'm not saying that if you don't, you are still allowed to bitch and whine on
chat lines, and not be a hypocrite. But it is certainly more effective than sitting on
your ass. Like it is kind of odd to see a twelve year old (I'm twelve years old) with a
picket sign. Because most twelve year olds are pretty fucking stupid and ignorant. I know,

songs are rellevant. Some bands come of as politcal bands but write lyrics that are
usually bullshit that aren't as well thought out as Zach's. (i.e. the fucking dumb-asses
in DOWNSET) Zach's writings are inspiring poetry that taught me to change my whole life
around. They woke me up and got me to think about what is going on in our country and the
world. Through their suggested reading list in Evil Empire I have begun to feed my brain
with usefull information that has taught what really goes on in the world and not the
bullshit we learn in school and the lies were told about in the media. Much Love to

I am a WASPM who loves Rage! Love Socialism, etc. and appreciate the fact that there is
a band that has a real message and purpose. The band takes complex social issues and
cleverly delivers them to the common man and woman, through songs, vidios and lyrics. I am
from Washington and if you watch MTV(lord knows I try not to) you might have seen a
backwater redneck sherrif trying to stigmatize Rage as a violent antigovernmental group.
Antigovernmental, yes. Violent, no. As Zack pointed out, I forget the exact numbers but he
brought up the thousands of police brutalities reported. I'm not to into this kind of
music usually, but in the midst of my goth CD's Rage sits for those angry and psyche-up

I just read through all the comments and I am not sure where I stand. I was pleasently
suprised that there are people out there that are less apathic than the ones I know. It is
amazing how powerful everything all these people have said. Even though many disagree,
it's great they are sharing their ideas and debating it instead of sitting on their asses.
The one thing that scared me was that for those that think our govt. should be overthrown,
what do you do with all this rich, white fuckers? They won't just go away, they'll still
be a part of the society that makes up our country. Do you really think they want to give
up their lifestyle? When Hitler wanted to start his revolution, he believed only a certain
type of people would work in his society. That is what a lot of rage fans seem to be
saying. See, I am totally for unity and putting others before myself, but everyone isn't.
When you decide this people who aren't willing to be totally unselfish won't cooperate,
are you going to dispose of them? Maybe communism could work if the human race was
different. But we're not, right now we have been programmed to look out for ourselves
first and do anything to get ahead. This may not be how we our in our natural, unaltered
state, but it is what we are like at the moment. So for this to change, there needs to be
more of and evolution than a revolution. I don't think the problem so much stems from our
system of govt., but the people within that system. No matter what laws or rights the
country gave those people, the people are still what defines it. Many seem to forget the
biggest freedom of all. The freedom of our mind. That is our power, even if it's our only
one. I am 100% for RATM and I think they are making people learn, wonder what the hell is
going on, and everyone in the world is not as lucky as they are. We need to fight for the
people in trouble, who have been dicked over, because when it happens to us, you're going
to want someone there for you too. I've learned a lot by reading all your opinions and
this is one of the best web pages ever. And it's also one of they only ones I know won't
censor out swear words or what they don't want to hear.

I know that people think that this whole "send the system to heel" shit is

I agree with what many have said before me. The government of this United States is
severely screwed up. It has come to the point where it doesn't matter if you vote Democrat
or Republican, they're both the same. They want more government, more social programs, and
more control over us. It is time to be free of this I'm not advocating violent revolution,
but it is time that people become more aware of their options and see what exists, and
realize what the government of the
US has done to them. If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he would be truly appalled with
the blatant disregard for what he and the founding fathers set forth so long ago.
