MISHA EDWARD...the monster...

Misha was pushed into this world on December 21, 1994 at 10:35 pm, an hour and a half short of my dad's birthday. He was an easy pregnancy and a relatively easy birth. (Ladies, GO EPIDURAL!!) His father's name is Mark E. Bartsch, from Saskatoon.

Misha is the center of my world. From the day he was born he has provided me with endless hours of fascination and yes, frustration. I have to admit, I don't know a thing about kids and I guess that only makes sense as I have no brothers or sisters, younger or older.

Misha has what I have determined an insecure resistant attachment to me. AKA, he likes to do his own thing and doesn't need me to do it with him. From the day he was born, Misha has been independant and has shown that, damn it, he WILL do things as he wants to and no one is going to stop him! *G* Gee, I wonder where he gets that from....there's that NATURE issue again. Actually, it is kind of a good thing, he never cries when I leave him with others, in fact, I often wonder if he notices. Which makes it easier on both of us because classes take up alot of my time right now.

Misha has been blessed with two grandparents who think he is the end all and be all of children. Oh don't make the mistake of thinking my parents are blind, they KNOW he is a little stinker at times...*L* But they love him beyond words, just as I do.

Misha is now two, yes, the terrible twos. I think that is a misnomer though. He was tantrumming at 18 months and has just learned to release that emotional energy into other things. So far, the twos have been relatively peaceful...*L* He has learned to express his feelings with hugs and kisses, or to trash things. *sigh*

Misha has no desire to create, he only loves to destroy. Which caused my roommate Tanya no end of stress because it is always her DAUGHTER'S stuff he ended up destroying. Hey, he's not stupid! *L* Why trash your own when you can trash someone elses! But he has calmed down alot, either that or there is nothing left that strikes his fancy! *G* Misha has continually thwarted my attempts at potty training him, he delights in telling me that he is currently peeing into his diaper. Great, but couldn't you tell me 30 seconds ago when I might have been able to get you on the pot???? He doesn't like the potty, it's like poison to him or something, like it is going to munch his butt or something! *L* Oh well, I'm in no hurry and I don't need him growing up with some bathroom fixation...*L* He'll have enough bizarre behavioral habits as it is...*G*

Have I mentioned that Misha has eczema? Probably not, we seem to have it almost under control. For those of you without a clue, exzema is a skin condition that makes him look like he has permanent road rash on his cheeks and body. His skin is very rough to the touch, no baby smooth skin for this kid! It is food allergy based and therefore, if I restrict his diet, he doesn't suffer too badly from it. He is allergic to chicken, eggs, beef, wheat, milk, and nuts. There are a bunch more but they are very mild. I hope he ends up growning out of most of these. As you can tell, there isn't much that he CAN eat. But I figure that I would rather have him itching a little than malnourished so I feed him all of those things but chicken and eggs and nuts, they seem to be the worst of the offenders anyways. This condition makes Misha owly, to use my aunt's term for cranky. He has a wicked temper to begin with and toss cranky on top of it and now you know why he drives me insane sometimes. But as his skin has cleared up so has his attitude towards life. I can't help but hope that when he grows out of it, as some say he might, he will be a pleasant vivacious little boy with all his mom's social skills (snicker) and charm...*G*

Update May 24, 1998

Misha is now 3.5! The terrible twos are gone (thank god) and the terrible threes are here now. *L* Actually, since his vocabulary has really grown and he can speak in complete sentences, he has been much better. Now he can tell me that he doesn't like this or that. Constantly... without end... *groan* He never shuts up! Though I must admit, some of the things that come out of his mouth are freaking HILARIOUS! I spend more time grinning at him and the way his mind works than rolling my eyes wishing he'd just shut up for a minute! He sure has a mind of his own and is NOT biddable in the least. But he has a good heart, I can see that already. he is very concerned with the happiness of others. Now that he is in his new daycare he has found himself a best friend named Mathias. I like this Mathias kid, he is so sweet and good natured, so QUIET! Apparently Mathias has been a very good influence on Misha's more exuberant side and his day care worker appreciate that too. Now I hope this means that Misha will always be more attracted to quiet children for playmates and maybe they will keep him from going too wild. *L* Probably not. I always had reserved friends and all that I ever did was get us into trouble. *toothy grin*

But Misha is doing very well. His eczema has cleared up alot and his allergies have lessened to the point that he can almost anything now. So those of you who have children with the same thing, take heart, chances are good that things will look up soon. Also, if your boy is still in diapers at 3, do not dispair. Misha just potty trained not too long ago and he took to it like a duck to water, as it were. Once he was ready, he was trained in less than a day. I know, eat your heart out with jealousy. *G*

I'll have more pics of him soon, never fear. *S* More later...
