Chapter 7: Insanity Runs A Muck

"So, Nick. How's the face?" Brian asked as his bewildered friend sat down.

"Like that's never happened to you," Nick said bitterly.

"Not that I recall. Anyway, the world is dying to know. What is going on?" he asked.

"That's the question on all of our minds," he answered. Impatient AJ couldn't listened to the conversation passively any longer.

"Nick. She came in, kissed you, slapped you, ran off. You followed. What happened after that?"

"I caught up to her. We argued. Apparently, someone told her about my undercover activities, AJ I'm looking in your direction, and she wanted to tear my face off. So she tried, I retaliated, and then we kissed, shook hands and went off on our merry ways," he said.

"Hey, she wanted to know, and I cannot tell a lie," he said, throwing his hands up.

"So…what's going on with you two?" Brian asked.

"Your guess is as good as mine, really. Because the only thing I do know is that that girl is certifiably insane," Nick answered.

"But…relationship potential?"

"Who knows? One minute she's kissing me, the next she's slapping me, the next she's yelling at me, and then after that she's kissing me again…and then after it all, she shakes my hand and walks away. Insanity, I tell you."

"Damon! Answer the door!" Lilia called as she banged on his door. She waited a few minutes until the door opened.

"Lilia? What's wrong?" he asked as she breezed past him into his room.

"The one time I need to find Paul and talk to him, I can't find him. And damn, I really need to talk to someone…How's in the shower?" she asked, as she noticed the sound of water dripping.

"Uh…I left in running when you knocked on the door. Anyway, Baby, what's the issue and can we talk later, this isn't the most ideal time for me," he asked.

"That wasn't really what I was hoping for. It's this whole thing with….well, you know how it is."

"Actually I have absolutely no idea what the hell you're talking about. Start from the beginning."

"Well, you all know about the thing in the arena. Well, I talked to AJ and we both agreed, BIG mistake, so that's all good. But then, I find out that it was Nick that arranged the whole thing. And it's like, whoa. Now he's going to die. But I'm happy about it, only because it turned out okay and I didn't have a mental break down, right? So then I go to bitch him out, but then I see him and this weird…grateful thing takes over and I act impulsively, like always, and kiss him. Then, after that feeling dissipates, I get angry all over again, so I slap him and leave. And you know what? The s.o.b. follows me! So then we have this big argument, and, before I can stop it, impulsiveness again! So I kiss him, and then come here. And yes there is someone in your shower, because it just turned off," she said.

"Whoa, how's that for an earful."

"Nice try, no cigar, changing the subject will get you nowhere. Who is there?" she demanded.

"Damon! There was no shampoo left, sweetie, so I used yours," a voice called out. Lilia was stunned as she recognised it's source and tried to contained her laughter.

"Jacki? Jacki?" she asked, unbelieving.

"Damon, who's there?" Jacki called, as the door opened, revealing Jacki in bathrobe with her hair twirled up in a towel. "Lilia?"

"This is an awkward moment. No, it was an awkward moment three seconds ago. Now it's an impossibly awkward moment. Care to explain, or should I just leave and pretend I didn't see anything?" Lilia asked the stunned couple.

"Listen Lilia, we were going to tell Paul and Sandy…eventually. But you know how it is. You know how Paul is. We were actually, well, hoping that you'd help us talk to them," Damon explained. Lilia tried to control her laughter as she realised the irony of the situation.

"I wouldn't be able to help at all. Paul will react the way he reacts. You can't help that. I don't know what'll happen, but you guys should definitely talk to him," she said, backing towards the door to make a quick exit.

"Lilia!"

"Yeah?" she asked as she was about to walk out the door.

"The grateful feeling wasn't gratitude. Think again," Damon called. She sighed. She knew where he was going, but she wasn't ready to even think about that.

"Damon?"

"What?"

"EW!" she said, as she slammed the door shut.

Feeling lost and forlorn and unable to find Paul to vent, she wandered around the halls. Finally giving in to her previous vow not to look for him in Sandy's room, she knocked on the door and sure enough he was there. After apologising profusely to Sandy, she dragged her unwilling best friend into her room, sat him down and told him everything. Absolutely everything, leaving nothing out like she had with Damon, giving him only the condensed version.

"And the problem is?"

"Paul! How can you say that? To think I came to you for advice, and you have none? What good are you?" she complained.

"Lilia, you are insane. I've never seen you like this. When did you get so weird?" Paul demanded.

"Weird? I'm not weird…I just am…okay, so I am. But it's not my fault! It's him! I swear, whenever I go near him, I just…loose myself and act all crazy and spontaneous and mad and happy and excited and ARGH! It's so annoying, I don't think I can take much more of this!" she said, her frustration taking over.

"You sound like you're nine. Take a chill pill and act like an adult," Paul advised.

"Just for that remark, I know something you don't know!" she responded.

"Which is?"

"Can't tell you."

"There you go again."

"You're damn straight. Ooh, and it's good and believe me you would kill to know what it is…But that's just too bad, because I'm not going to tell you," she said.

"You are impossible. Tell me, because I know your weakness, girlie," Paul threatened.

"You will find out soon enough, you won't have to torture it out of me. Let's just say that it's like you and Sandy, only with different people," she supplied.

"What?"

"That's all you are getting!" she declared.

"I know where you live!" he threatened.

"Nice try. Didn't work, I know where you live," she answered.

"Why are you doing this?" he whined.

"You told me to act like an adult. Since when have I done anything but the exact opposite of what you've told me?" she asked.

"By god, you have a point. You will tell me?" he asked.

"I won't have to. Now go find your girlfriend, she may kill me," she ordered, pushing Paul out of her room.
