Chapter 9: Amazing
Two weeks later…
One full week had passed since that day. Things were progressing beautifully for Nick and Lilia. They saw each other whenever they could, but not to the point where they were sick of each other. In fact, they didn't see each other as much as they would have liked, considering the busy tour schedule. They were at the mercy of the constant teasing from both bands, but bore it well, considering that when together, they were in their own little world.
As for Premiere, tension caused by both couples trying to conceal their relationships was mounting, and Lilia was bursting to tell them, but the dramatic irony it presented was just too beautiful for her to pass up. She figured it would teach them a lesson for trying to control emotions with stupid rules of not dating within the band.
They had finished the dates in Florida and were doing a few big city dates for publicity before they went overseas. Lilia was very aware of this fact, knowing that in a month or so, not only would her best friends, but her 'significant other', would no longer be on the same continent as her. Cities flashed by, and Lilia couldn't even remember what state she was in. She just went where she was told, and enjoyed the ride.
It was a rare, blissful day off. Her morning was spent with Paul and Sandy, just hanging out and goofing around in the hotel room. Just living the good old days when the three of them were rather inseparable. Lilia did feel a little bad for Sandy as she had never been as close to Paul as she had, and was constantly afraid that she would feel left out when the three of them hung out together, but the three of them got along together wonderfully.
The afternoon, she had specially planned for her and Nick. Surprising him at lunch, she quickly said hello to the rest of the guys and their hip attachments, and pulled Nick away from them, keeping their destination a mystery, she handed him the ritualistic hat and sunglasses, and they took off.
And she brought him to a skating rink. He looked around, surprised and Lilia noticed with delight, slightly worried.
"Uh, this is an ice skating rink…Ice, Lily," he said. She smirked at him, and handed him a pair of rented skates.
"Come on, Florida boy, let's see these skills of yours," she challenged.
"Ice skating and blading are two totally different things," he was determined to win the argument.
"Exactly. Trust me, dear, you are not worthy of my time unless you are willing to skate with me. I've been looking for two weeks straight for a town with a rink that still has public ice, and after all my time and effort, you are not going to turn me down, now are you?" she said, grinning while trying to pout. He chuckled a bit, and kissed her pouting lower lip.
"Lily, you know that the guilt trip doesn't work for you. I like your fire and brimstone a lot better," he whispered, grabbed the skates, sighed, wondered why he was giving into her, and tried to put them on.
"Of course, if you feel that you might embarrass yourself, you could always back out now, and just watch me have fun on the ice," she drawled out, watching him struggled with the laces.
"That doesn't work either. But now it's on. You're going down, Ice Princess," he called jokingly, as he wobbled and tried to keep his balance.
"Oh really?" she shot back. She stood up and walked confidently onto the ice and glided around. To his astonishment, she was fabulous. She raced around the rink, quick and smoothly. She stopped, sending a wall of slush flying.
"You're still going down," he said. She gave him a look, and then skated off. She counted her strides, trying to make sure that she could still remember what she was about to do. She gained momentum, thrust the pick into the ice and flew into a double axel. She landed perfectly and skated timidly over to an astonished Nick.
"You never told me you could do that," he said, as he stepped gingerly onto the ice. With slow movements, he took a few strides to get accustomed to the feel of it and met her halfway.
"You never asked. I do have other interests, other than following around Premiere on their tour and my night club. Skating was fun, so I did it. Was never really that serious about it. The axle was something I learned just to annoy Paul when the two of us would go public skating," she explained.
"You're amazing," he said, grabbing his hand, and they joined the stream of skaters skating around the rink.
