Durante ocho años los ex-integrantes del grupo dan vida a
bandas como Rainbow (Ritchie Blackmore), Whitesnake (David Coverdale) Paice,
Ashton y Lord (Jon Lord e Ian Paice), Ian Gillan Band (Ian Gillan), Roger Glover
se dedicaría a la producción y, posteriormente, se une al grupo Rainbow de
Ritchie Blackmore. Paice y Lord se unen a la banda de David Coverdale,
Whitesnake. Paice también trabajaría en la Gary Moore Band y con Maggie Bell.
Gillan también paso a formar parte de la conocida banda británica Black Sabbath.
Glenn Hughes reformó el grupo Trapeze por corto tiempo para, posteriormente,
iniciar su carrera en solitario.
Con Rainbow, Blackmore grabó los albumes
Ritchie Blackmore´s Rainbow (1975), Rainbow Rising (1976), On
Stage (1977), Long Live Rock and Roll (1978), Down to Earth
(1979), Difficult to Cure (1981), Straight Between the Eyes
(1982), Bent Out of Shape (1983). posterior a la separación del grupo se
editaron los álbumes en vivo Final Vinyl (1986) y Live in Germany
(1990) y algunas recopilaciones.
Jon Lord, junto con Ian Paice y Tony Ashton (R.I.P.),
formó el grupo Paice, Ashton & Lord, editando el album Malice in
Wonderland, (1977) con la participación de Paul Martínez en el bajo y Bernie
Marsden en la guitarra. Durante 1978 hizo algunas presentaciones en la banda de
Maggie Bell (ex-Stone The Crows) y en Agosto de 1978 se unió a la banda de David
Coverdale: Whitesnake. Con esta banda Lord grabó los álbumes Trouble
(1978), Live at Hammersmith (1979), Love Hunter (1979), Ready
and Willin´ (1980), Live in the Heart of the City (1980), Come and
Get It (1981), Saint and Sinners (1982) y Slide It (1983).
También participó, como músico invitado, en grabaciones de Joe Breen (More
Than Meet The Eyes, 1978), Bernie Marsden (And About Time Too, 1979,
Look at me Now, 1981), Richard Digance (Commercial Road, 1979),
Graham Bonnet (Line Up, 1981), George Harrison (R.I.P.) (Gone Troppo,
1982), David Gilmour (About Face, 1983) y Cozy Powell (R.I.P.)
(Octopus, 1983). En 1982 editó su tercer álbum en solitario, titulado
Before I Forget.
Ian Paice ha trabajado de forma paralela con Jon Lord en
el proyecto Paice, Ashton y Lord (Malice in Wonderland, 1977), con Maggie
Bell y Whitesnake (Ready and Willin´, 1980; Live in the Heart of the
City, 1980; Come and Get It, 1981; Saint and Sinners, 1982).
En 1982 se unió a la Gary Moore Band grabando los álbumes Corridors of
Power (1982), Rocking Every Night-Live in Japan (1983), Victims of
Future (1983) y We Want Moore!! (1984). Participó en grabaciones de
Eddie Hardin (You Can´t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks, 1977), Bernie
Marsden (And About Time Too, 1979, Look at me Now, 1981), Ken
Hensley (Free Spirit, 1981), Jon Lord (Before I Forget, 1982) y
The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and Friends (Arrested, 1983).
Ian Gillan formó la Ian Gillan Band en 1975 y grabó los
álbumes
Child in Time (1976), Clear Air Turbulence (1977), Scarabus
(1977), Gillan (1978), Mr. Universe (1979), Glory Road
(1980), Trouble (1980), Future Shock (1981), Magic (1982),
Live at Budokan (1982, grabado en 1977). Por esta banda pasaron músicos
como los guitarristas Ray Fenwick, Steve Byrd, Bernie Torme y Janick Gers
(actualmente en Iron Maiden), los bajistas John Gustafson y John McCoy, los
bateristas Mark Nauseef, Liam Genocky, Pete Barnacle y Mick Underwood y los
tecladistas Mike Moran, Mickey Lee Soule (ex Elf, ex Rainbow y actualmente
técnico de teclados de Deep Purple) y Colin Towns. En 1983 se une a Black Sabbath
y graba el álbum Born Again (1983).
Roger Glover se dedicó,
principalmente a la producción para artistas y grupos como Elf, Nazareth, Status Quo,
Judas Priest, Rory Gallagher, Joe Breen, Ian Gillan Band, David Coverdale, Dan
McCafferty y Rainbow. En 1978 se une al grupo Rainbow con quien grabó los
álbumes Down to Earth (1979), Difficult to Cure (1981),
Straight Between the Eyes (1982), Bent Out of Shape (1983) y
Final Vynyl (1986). En 1978 grabó el álbum Elements con la
colaboración de Ronnie Aspery (saxo, flauta), Martin Birch (guitarra), Helen
Chapelle y Liza Strike (vocalistas), Graham Preskett (violín, clarinete), Simon
Phillips (batería) y Mickey Lee Soule (teclados). En 1983 graba el álbum The
Mask con la ayuda de Chuk Burgi y Mark Conese (batería), Dave Gellis y Joe
Jammer (guitarras), David Rosenthal y Jean Rousell (teclados), Craig Brooks y
Kate McGarricle (vocalistas).
David Coverdale grabó los álbumes
Whitesnake (1977) y Northwinds (1978). En 1978 forma el grupo
Whitesnake y graba los álbumes Trouble (1978), Live at Hammersmith
(1979), Love Hunter (1979), Ready and Willin´ (1980), Live in
the Heart of the City (1980), Come and Get It (1981), Saint and
Sinners (1982) y Slide It (1983), 1987 (1987), Slip of the
Tongue (1989). Por su grupo pasaron músicos como Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Cozy
Powell, John Sykes, Ansley Dunbar, Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, David Dowle,
Neil Murray, Pete Solley, Mel Galley, Don Airey, Adrian Vanderberg, Steve Vai,
Tommy Aldridge, Rudy Sarzo entre otros.
Glenn Hughes grabó
el álbum Play Me Out (1977), reformó su anterior banda (Trapeze) para una
corta gira por Estados Unidos y Gran Bretaña, formó el dúo Hughes y Thrall con
el guitarrista Pat Thrall en 1982. En 1985 forma el grupo Phenomena con Don
Airey, Mel Galley, Neil Murray y Cozy Powell. Formó parte de Balck Sabbath en
1985 con quienes editó el disco Seventh Star (1986). Ha participado como
invitado en un gran número de grabaciones, en discos tributos a bandas como
Cream, Queen, Jethro Tull. En 1994 se edita un álbum tributo a Deep Purple donde
Glenn Hughes participa como vocalista en el tema Stormbringer.
Tommy
Bolin, posterior a la disolución de Deep Purple, grabó su segundo álbum en
solitario Private Eyes (1976), pero el 4 de Diciembre de ese mismo año
murió en Miami. En años posteriores se han editado diferentes grabaciones
realizadas con su banda.

grabaciones aparecerían a partir de 1977.
