AFTER JANE'S ADDICTION

Each member did go their own way, in a sense. Dave and Eric had talked about starting their own band after Jane's Addiction, and they did. Along with Micheal Murphy, this trio formed Deconstruction. Perry and Steve started a band with Martyn Le Noble and Peter DiStefano. These four were known as Porno For Pyros. In 1994, Deconstruction's first and only album was released. Soon after, Dave had been caught in a jam session with Chili Peppers Anthony Kiedis, Flea, and Chad Smith. The Chili Peppers had been looking for a guitarist since John Frusciante had left the band in 1992. Eric, on the other hand, had started a band with Harold (Biff) 'Barefoot' Sanders III and Thomas Von Wendt. They were now known as Polar Bear. The line-up would change as the years went by.

In 1996, Porno For Pyros released their second album, "Good God's Urge". Dave Navarro and Flea had helped on the track "Freeway". In 1997, Porno For Pyros did a track for Howard Stern's "Private Parts" soundtrack called "Hard Charger" which featured Dave Navarro and Flea yet again. Perhaps there was to be another time for Jane's Addiction.

THE RELAPSE

After Porno For Pyros recorded "Hard Charger", Perry, Steve, Dave, and Flea started to hang out with each other a lot. Sometimes they would even play old Jane's Addiction songs. Perry, Steve and Dave soon decided that it would be fun to do some more Jane's Addiction live shows. At that time, Warner Bros. had been planning a "best of Jane's Addiction" album and the three decided they wanted to take part in it, but there was one thing missing, that being Eric. Dave and Eric had talked about it at times, but when it came down to it, Eric decided not to because he thought it would interfere with Polar Bear. Soon after, Flea said he would take Eric's place in the Relapse Tour. At the start of the Relapse, Jane's Addiction's fourth album, "Kettle Whistle" was released. It included four new tracks, demo's, studio-outtakes, and live tracks. After a while, the Relapse came to an end.
