~ Concert Personality ~

He's (usually) the guitarist on the right . . . who's got one heck of a headbanging gig going on!

Observing Mr Kruspe is an interesting thing you decide: unlike the band's lead singer, he dos not run around acting wild. Unlike the other guiatarist, he does not stand and glare. Unlike the keyboardist, he does not dance around. And unlike the drummer, he does not yell at the top of his lungs in particular parts of the song. But something like the bass player, he is rather. . . . quiet!

You watch him closely: Kruspe is usually looking out to the crowd and concentrating on what he's playing. He's the lead guiatarist so he has to pay attention! He also is a leader in fan involvement: in a keyboard solo which begins the song *Bück Dich*, he gets the audience's attention and has them mimick what he plays on the keyboard . . . whether the audience can properly mimick is the question, but he has fun with it anyway! He also will stop to get the audience singing along or encourage them to do something. Every now and then he'll stop playing and cross his arms, but he's not menacing. ;)

Watching, you also see that he sings back up, with Paul (the dude on the far left, usually). Sometimes he even sounds like Till, you realize. . . You make the note that he's even rather polite while playing: you've noticed that every-now-and-then during performances he will stand, not playing, with one arm in front of him; one behind him. Then, surprisingly, he bows, only to start playing again! You're quite taken by that, you decide.

Finally, one last thing you pick up on is what he wears in concert. You smile. The man's got an interesting wardrobe! Usually he is wearing his famous shiny pants, but is seen wearing a variety of jackets, [fur] coats, shirts, or sometimes nothing to go with those pants. He's also known for wandering around in elevator shoes on stage AND, as you recall with a smirk and a giggle, now is known for wearing a *dress* on stage! Mr Kruspe is also known for wearing interesting make up- silver lipstick. Some major eye liner. . .

You begin to wonder what he's like off stage.

Name: Richard Z. Kruspe (dunno what the "Z" stands for, but hey, it's cool)
Name Meaning: "Powerful Ruler; Powerful, brave"
Date of Birth: June 24/67

Height: Although the elevator shoes may give another impression, Richard is actually slightly taller than Paul. His actual height's unknown. He's the secnod shortest.

Jewellery: Erm. . . one ear is pierced. Usually doens't wear jewellry. ;)
Habits: wears very interesting things / tends to be serious a lot of the time, but humourous / very nice ;)

Richard Kruspe- one of the 3 Rammstein members who doesn't really change during the transition from reality to on stage back to reality

It's all true. Mr Kruspe is really the same polite, fashion-conscious (hehe. . . what? It's true), and quiet guy off stage who just really seems to enjoy life. And nice, too! A guy you can take home to the family without any problem. ;)

Richard is known for his famous story of when he was a young lad, when his step-father took down and tore apart the KISS poster on the wall of his bedroom. WELL! Richard really loves the band and just because the poster was torn didn't mean that THAT was the end of things. What did Richard do??????

He put it back together and hung it back up!

Some of miscellaeneous pieces of information (some which will be added later on):

i) at the moment (July '99), there's RUMOUR going around that he is to wed an American woman (Caren Bernestein) in OCTOBER of this year . . . . however, there is some speculation that this is a hoax just to get us going, especially when you conside that the two had supposedly known each other for 3 weeks, after meeting at an after-show party! Could this be true love and a true wedding or a true HOAX? Steiners will see in October.
ii) he's a father! So far, fans know of his one daughter
iii) he likes listening to AC/DC and KISS!
iv) he got to meet and even OPEN for KISS when Rammstein went on tour with them in '99! :o)
v) a previous job he had was . . . a Salesman?
vi) he contributes to writing the music
vii) Richard's pen wrote the lyrics to *Engel* . . . . . btw, there is a very special factor when it comes to this fact. If you look over the lyrics of *Engel* then study all of the other Rammstein pieces, it is very clear that it was written by a different person. Richard is a couplet-poet while Till seems to be couplet/triplet/free style. :o)
viii) he was the man who actually BEGAN the band
ix) hmm, off stage you can usally find Mr Kruspe wandering around in t-shirts and stuff. . . . photo shoots are different stories.
x) Richard, like Paul, has a particular style of playing guitar. You can TELL when it's Rammstein guitars as opposed to other bands . . . although, as this Steiner has discovered, Canadian band "Scratching Post" has guitars which sounds eerily like Rammstein. AGH.
xi) if you watch the Family Values Tour '98 video and make a note of observing Richard during the time that Till & Flake demonstrate their creativity during *Bück Dich*, you will find that every time he watches the two in the middle of the stage, he turns back to the microphone with an interesting expression on his face . . . .
xii) To this date, this Steiner is only aware of two times where da Man has worn dresses. . . . *giggle* Once was at Hallowe'en during the Family Values Tour, where he was the only Rammstein member actually wearing CLOTHES. He wore a long, almost floor length, white dress. . . THEN, in the DRSG '98 video (NOT DRSG '95) he is seen in a RED dress. GO RICHARD GO! But don't get the wrong impression. He's just wearing these things for FUN. It really is amusing.

Personality Traits (this is just a personal observation . . . I'm bound to be missing some traits, but these are all pretty important. ;)
