About Mind~Flux
The origin of the group name "Mind~Flux" is as follows:
"Always try to keep your mind in the state of flux, permanently reflect
your patterns of
thinking and behaving. In terms of music we wanted a name that expresses
the constant
flow and the psychedelic element in our music as well. Let your
mind
flux !"
(quoted from "SoundDesign Home" http://users.exis.net/~westend/inter.html )
Mind~Flux are the Germans Thomas Fanger, born 05/16/62 in Berlin,
and Michael Kersten,
born 03/08/60 in Varel, in the state of Lower Saxony.
They started their collaboration back in 1979, but unfortunately all
releases from 1979 'til
1993 aren't available anymore. :(
After signing at the IC/Digit label they released their first *official* album "Trancefloor" in 1994.
There is no doubt regarding their favourite artists of the 70s:
They are heavily influenced by both, the Berlin School of Electronic
Music and the Düsseldorf
School. They must have heard a lot of Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk
albums.
Unlike other Tangerine_Dream_and_Kraftwerk- influenced artists, Mind~Flux
were
creating their own unique style:
An excellent crossover between 70s Electronic Music and modern fresh
Trance and Techno elements
of the 90s ! Both the fans of Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream will find
an interesting new
progressive style.
Interestingly every Mind~Flux album is slightly different. They seem
to develop their style
continuously:
From the heavily Techno influenced, upbeat "Trancefloor" to the very
varied "Konception of Space"
and finally to the more subtle tracks on "Script" (released as "Fanger
& Kersten").
Needless to say they are my favourite group of the 90s.
