Chapter 16

"Hey Amanda can you toss me my blue sweatshirt?" Brian asked Amanda who was sitting in a chair staring out the window. "Amanda? Amanda? Hello Earth to Amanda!" Brian stood in front of her, "Hey Amanda, you still here?" he asked gently. Amanda shook her head to clear her thoughts and saw Brian staring at her.

"Sorry B-Rok, did you say something?"

He kneeled in front of her, "okay what’s up?"

She reached out and touched his curls, "I’m worried about Sahar and Nick."

"Why?"

"She told me she thought she was ready to go all the way with Nick." Brian was silent for a minute, then he spoke, "they’re adults they can decide for themselves."

"I know but I’m the oldest out of all of us, a year older than Nicky and two more than Sahar. I’ve always been the protector, and watched out for them ya know. I just don’t want them to make a big mistake. Could you talk to Nick?"

"I can but I really think we need to let them do this on their own. We’ll support them, but you have to let them grow up."

Amanda nodded and looked at Brian with complete adoration, "why did it take me so long to realize how wonderful you are?"

Brian tilted his head, "not sure, why?" Amanda laughed and rolled her eyes.

"Nick are you ready to go yet?"

"Almost gotta finish my hair."

"The only person you should want to impress with your looks is me Nick, and I don’t care so let’s go."

"Sheesh, I’m coming," he said grabbing his wallet and sunglasses. "When are Brian and Amanda coming over?" KNOCK KNOCK. "Never mind." Nick said tossing open the door.

"Ewww, Sahar they’re kissing in the hall, make them stop!" Nick shrieked. Amanda raised one hand and gave her childhood friend the finger. Nick gasped, "how unlady like!" Brian and Amanda pulled apart.

"Ready to shop?" Brian asked with a grin.

Sahar popped up behind Nick, "yup, let’s go." She linked her arm with Amanda and they trotted off down the hall giggling.

Brian waited while Nick locked the door. "So Frack, how are you and Sahar?"

"Great I really love her," Nick answered as he shut the door and they began towards the elevators. "So have you guys….?"

"No, I think we’re both ready, but I want to wait. Make it special somehow. On another note, what’s up with you and my Amanda."

"Your Amanda?"

"Yah, ever since we were kids they’ve been my Sahar and my Amanda."

"She’s my Amanda now!" Brian told Nick the slightest hint of possessive jealously in his voice.

Nick caught it and decided to drop the subject, "Hey Sahar, Manda hold the elevator."
