Hey, e-mail us your experience and we'll post it up!
To be perfectly honest, the first time I saw Hanson was on the MTV Movie Awards and really, I didn't think they were all that good looking. I had never heard of MmmBop, so therefore, I didn't know who the hell Hanson was! I had caught half of their vid on MuchMusic a couple times (after the Awards), but never cared enough to take notice of who the band was. That is, until I saw Zac playing the drums. Now, at the time, I had never seen the whole video before, and the times that I saw clips from it, they weren't playing their instruments (I did vaguely remember seeing Zac come out of the trash can, and I thought that was cute!). When I saw Zac (playing the drums), I was like, Omigosh, how old is he? It never occured to me that these were the three guys that I had seen on the Movie Awards. This time, instead of flipping to another channel (like I had done the previous times), I decided to watch the rest of the video. I didn't even know that the song they were singing was called MmmBop, all I knew was that it was catchy and I kinda liked it. (This happened in June, by the way. Don't be shocked, I was listening to other bands like No Doubt, Spice Girls *gasp!*, R&B, dance music and the sort. I didn't care much for the radio, since they always play the same music over and over again.)
Got somethin' to say? Then e-mail me!!! I love to hear what others have to say!
Hmmm.... this is tough! I think the first time I hear of Hanson was from my best friend at the time, Amanda. One day at lunch she asked me if I had ever heard of them. I believe this was in late April. I replied no, and she practicly freaked out and said she couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of them. She then began to ramble on and on about how gorgious the drummer was. Now- if you knew Amanda, you would know that she has a weekly crush on just about anybody so I quickly changed the subject, trying to save myself from emense bordom. About a week later me and my mom were driving to the mall and the DJ from the local radio station came on and said..."this is brand new from a great band called Hanson, and I think you'll really like it..." Hearing the name "Hanson", I vaugly remeberd hearing somthing about them before, so I turned it up a bit and imediatly liked it. I was like "Wow! This girl really has a great voice!" Of course this was all before I had actuly seen them or anything. Around the middle of May, or so, was my first visual MMMBop "expirence" I was cleaning my room ( a very scarce occurance) and the MMMBoo vid came on. I sat down and was completly shocked that they were that young! I also wounderd how they all met 'cause they looked kinda varied in age. A little after my B-Day (6/1) I bought the CD and they imediatly became my fave band. I found out about their web-site from the CD and then I found all the other fan sites and like everyday I was on-line for hours at a time! That is how my whole summer bascily went! I then found out that they were ALL guys and that they were brothers and so on. I was then pretty much obbsessed with the whole band. I know that really sounds really pathetic but I had had a HUGE fight with two of my best friends so I kinda flew the summer solo. I didn't really listen to MON durring the day but at night, I would put my CD player on and leave it go all night long. Then the dreaded day when I would have to go back to school sudenly came. About this time or a little before Carley asked me to do this web page with her! So, here I am in a new school with a lot more homework and a lot more adjusting to do. I started to listen to them less and less and my lil "obsseseion" quickly came to an end. BUT, I still really liked the music. Now, I still surf around looking for new Hanson sites, and oviously I do this page, and I always try to watch all their apprences but now I really like them for their music, NOT their looks. OK- I think I've bored you enough so I think I'll go and finish that dreaded laundry that my mom has benn nagging me about for forever so bye for now!!! If you have any questions or comments e-mail me HERE!!!
Well, this is kinda self explanatory. If you don't know what this page is about by reading the title, then you should get your head checked....is that brain in there?
Alright, we'll write a brief explanation as to why this is here, anyways. Ya know, just for the hell of it. So, where would you like us to begin?
Okay, okay, before you kill us, we'll cut the crap and get to the point. We put this up so that we can tell people OUR first experience of MmmBop. Is that brief enough? If not....TOO BAD!!!!!!
How Carley Became Attached to Hanson's Music:
That same day, I went over to my best friend's house (for a sleepover), and while we sat and chatted into the night (after an evening full of hyper activity--she lives by the Bluffs, so we were outside the whole day!), I asked her, "Do you know that band Hanson?" She answered (in a kind of disgusted voice), "Yes." She went on to ask me, "Did you know they're boys?" I don't mean to offend anyone by saying this, but my reaction was, "You mean, the guitarist and the drummer." My friend shook her head. "No, I mean all three of them." My eyes opened wide and she started laughing at me! I didn't believe her! I was like, "Are you serious?" She nodded her head, still amused by the look on my face! I kept shaking my head, saying, "No, your kidding". She finally stopped laughing at me and said, "Doesn't he look exactly like a girl?" I was too surprised to answer, but she knew what my answer was anyways. I then asked her how old they were, and when she told me, I was like "WHAT?" I mean, what was I doing when I was 11? This totally shocked me (talk about a day full of shockers!!), and I fell asleep thinking about it!!!! Next morning, I totally forgot about it...untill I saw them again on Much which was a week or so later. I called my mother over (big mistake), and she watched it with me, then proceeded to lecture me on the value of brother and sisterhood. (My sisters and I don't get along and she used Hanson as an example of what we should be like *ugh*.)
Anyways, later that day, I went out to buy more CDs. You see, it was only July, and I was so totally bored that I had to replace some of my old CDs with new ones. So, we went out to the mall, and I knew we would be in the record store for a while, since I didn't know what I wanted. Actually, I kinda did, but when I saw Middle of Nowhere, I was like, Oh wow, they're the brothers that sing MmmBop! Surprisingly, it was only $13.99 whereas CDs usually cost $16.99. At that time, I still didn't really know what they looked like, and when I saw them on the cover, I didn't think they looked that good there, either (and I hated the orange, but oh well). I didn't really want MmmBop either, but I knew there would probably be better songs on the CD, so I took it, and went on to look for more CDs. I left the store with three new CDs, and I got into so much trouble 'cause CDs are so expensive. But anyways, that's not important.
When I got home, I immediately put MON into my discman and situated myself in front of the t.v. (right, I was watching t.v and listening to Hanson at the same time). I usually listen to the beginning of some songs, then skip it so that I could listen to the rest, but not for this one. I listened to every song on the CD! The songs that I was most attached to were Thinking of You, Speechless, Where's the Love, Yearbook (definitely!), IWCTY, With You in Your Dreams and when I heard Man from Milwaukee, I burst out laughing! All of the other songs grew on me in like two days!!! I loved the whole CD and that's a first for me! Hanson was suppose to be on Jay Leno on the following Friday, and I was so excited to see and hear them sing! In the car, like on the Thursday before, (I had gotten the CDs on Monday of the week they were to be on Leno), we were driving along to dinner, listening to the countdown on KISS 98.5 and Where's the Love was #8! When I heard it, I was like, wait, I know this song. What is it? I started singing along with them when they broke into the chorus (that's all I knew!). When I saw them on Leno, I was shocked 'cause Tay's voice was so much deeper! (and he looked more like a male *sorry Tay!* I'm just being totally honest, so please don't hate me!) I loved it, though! It sounded even better, in my opinion! So, anyways, that's how I got attached to Hanson's music. I still think they're amazing and they seem better looking to me, now. I wonder why? Maybe it's because of their personalities? They seem so fun-loving! Hmmm.....
All I want to say now, is Good Luck to Hanson on all of your projects ahead and keep making great music for all of your fans!!!!!! Oh yeah, and come back to Ontario, NOW!!
Okay, now that you've read about how I became a fan, go and read about what I think of Hanson fans, haters and Hanson themselves!!! Our Thoughts...
