The Crime Page
The first and only homepage
of San Francisco's first and only rock and roll band

Welcome to my web page. Crime is THE first "punk" rock band to hail from San Francisco, as well as the most overlooked, which is probably due to the fact that they focused on rock more than punk. Except for the posthumous studio compilation "San Francisco's Doomed", their total official output is about three 7" records. They were bootlegged from a live show and that was called Terminal Boredom, later re-released as Hate Us or Love Us We Don't Give a Fuck with two extra tracks. In the future, I'll be posting liner notes, interviews, articles, photos, and a list of tapes to trade so that despite being out of print, their music won't be completely unavailable. No big hurry though, since I doubt enough people know who they are (were) that anybody will see this for a long time, if ever, and this is mainly intended to be a belated tribute.

Update 7-24 Wow. Over a year now. Must be some kind of record. Speaking of records, I've now started building a sound file section, so people can hear CRIME for themselves instead of just taking my word for it. Now that I've begun conquering the world of mpegs (Soundjam rocks) maybe it will motivate me to work on this more often. I have a ton of stuff my girlfriend is supposed to scan for me, soon I hope, and if I owe anyone a tape or something, drop me a line to remind me because our system got wrecked and had to be rebuilt from scratch. I hope you enjoy the music, and I have more to add. Later. By the way, I'd like to take this oppurtunity to thank James Stark and Mike Lucas for their contributions and cooperation in making this web page. A couple of the photos in the photo gallery section were contributed by James Stark and have never been printed elsewhere, so I'm grateful. Without their cooperation, this page would suck. Thanks. The anthology I mentioned earlier is one that Hank has been shopping around for a while, Lookout was interested, but they wouldn't put up or shut up, so he took it elsewhere. The last information I've had on it is Rykodisc is into it and even though nothing is confirmed yet, they're probably going to do it. Someday I'll be putting up a list of tapes to trade on the same page as my links, since my links are ones that have bootlegs tapes to trade. Also, a lot of the information and photos coming up were originally published in Ugly Things #14, like the first photo in the gallery section. They are up to 16 now and it's a great magazine. The issueI have also has articles on the Misfits, MC5, and others. All the material presented here will be reproduced with permission from the authors. Be sure to check back every now and then to see how it's coming along and let me know what you think. If you have any suggestions, photos or material that would look good up here, feel free to e-mail me, Don, at: katb@onr.com. Also apologies to anybody who has checked back with this for updates and not found any. I didn't think anyone has seen this since I've received no feedback on it, but the e-mail address wasn't working. The one posted above will. Thanks.
