January 09, 1999:

** Our bassist and our drummer have left the band. Robi left because the music of the band isn't th e kind of music he wants to play. We're trying to find a new bassist now. Phil (drums) left a few days before our show on December 18th 1999, because his ear problems seemed to come back. In order to avoid new problems, Philippe decided to leave the band a nd don't pick up a drumstick again. Maybe Yves, who played with us for a few weeks in July last year and who has offered to play future shows with Carefree, wants to come back completely. That's what he said he's thinking about, at least :) So this isn't the end. It just means that we're back where we started two years ago...

** We have a keyboarder now, Ben (a.k.a. Santa Claus), who has joined the band to add keyboard parts to a few songs which gives them a 'Snuff' touch (Snuff are a punk/ska band using keyboards...).

** The site of Jeff's side-project Higgledy-Piggledy (together with Mathis) is finally online. It contains a few pictures of the band, a bio and one song in Mp3, which is actually Pomp & Circumstance in a SKA Version. Good quality, and funny to listen to...

October 16, 1999: Grand opening of new designed Official CAREFREE Homepage. We're on a new server now. Infoseek. And that's not the only big new thing about the site... There are a few new sections and finally the long-awaitened MP3 FILES (except if I don't get the time to upload them, cause they take about 40 mbs)!!!! We now have the stories section containing articles about things that happened to us or whatever and an archive with the news of the old page. Instead of one big sounds section with lots of stuff that we do not play, we have now 3 sections with different content:

1. "Songs" contains bits of songs that we play regularly, that have a fix form and that are FINISHED as a whole...

2. "Noise Corner" contains complete songs in Mp3, but these may be played sometimes by only a part of the band, as for example only with two guitars... This section contains 3 kinds of songs: some kind of jam session records (songs we played once and never again, although they are good...) (in fact we sometimes play them at shows...), cover-versions (the Luxembourgish national anthem, Nirvana, Simon & Garfunkel, Kiss...) and finally some live stuff.

3. "D.J. Softcore" contains techno/rave remixes of Carefree material by the mysterious D.J. Softcore, a long-time good friend of the band... Weird...

Then we have more links to bands, labels and helpful (pacifist) relief organizations than before and all in all the site is easier to explore. It should be more fun to look around, you can easier choose what you're interested in (mostly in the lyrics section) and my knowledge of setting up Internet sites has improved a lot. We didn't put background images this time because people told us they took a long time to load...

We have lots of new pictures from a show Michel and Jeff (Robi was at work and we had no drummer at that moment...) played in July at a class meeting.

And we have a drummer now...

Else there's not much that has changed. We still want to get better and better. And we still hope to get noticed by Fat Wreck Chords or some other label with a good international distribution and cool bands, and we still want to finally start playing shows and even more shows with other bands on the same way than us. So if you like what you hear on this site, you can tell us. If you know somebody that can help us reach our goals, tell him about us. And after all try to be always on the run about what we the heck we're doing. We're happy for everybody who enjoys our music and likes what we're doing (but we don't hate critics, neither).

You can also join our mailing list to get notifications of any updates or important news, you can announce this site to your friends, sign our guestbook and send postcards to your friends and enemies... All this terrible stuff can be found in the guestbook section, together with a nice visitor poll...

OK. Enough said, now I let you discover the rest on your own... Enjoy!
