The Zodiac

 


    The zodiac is a band of constellations.  Each constellation is a group of stars. There are twelve constellations in the zodiac.  Many of the constellations of the zodiac were named for animals.  The word 'zodiac' comes from the Greek word 'zoin' meaning animal.  Astrology is the belief that the movements of the stars, planets, moon, and sun influence human beings.

    In this unit, we are focusing on adjectives which describe human qualities. You were given the noun forms of all of these words.  We used the following suffixes to form the nouns :

-ce, -ity, -ness,- ion, -cy, -dom
