EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS PLAIN NEXT DAY
EXT. UNITED ALLIANCE SHUTTLE CRAFT
INT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE - LARGE ROOM
Rolf, Frank, Myra and Dunn are seen dusting the heavy
accumulation of ash from the inside of the ancient
structure. They have sealed the entrance with MYLAR
and have generated a breathable environment by using
canisters of Oxygen.
DUNN
You know Rolf, the exact alignment
of the GIZA PYRAMIDS with the
three stars of Orion's Belt in 10450 BC comes as no surprise
to those of us who are familiar
to the most diehard Egyptologist,
that the pyramids of GIZA are
distinct from the others in Egypt.
The perfect 52 degree slopes of the GIZA pyramids were never
successfully copied by the pharaohs
who ruled 8,000 years later.
FRANK
So what you're saying is that
that the GIZA pyramids should
be studied in the context of
a highly advanced worldwide
culture which preceded the
earliest civilizations of
the 4th millennium BC.
DUNN
It is an archaeological fact
that the mysterious fortified
town of JERICHO, dates back
to 8000 BC.
ROLF
There is belief that the pyramids
of GIZA acted as beacons which
guided the pilots of ancient
aircraft towards a landing site
at BAALBEK.
DUNN
The answer to the Great Pyramid's
function lies in ancient texts
which refer to it as a House Like
a Mountain with a Pointed Peak.
These texts describe the use of
its awesome powers in a war of
the gods. As a result of this war,
the Pyramid was permanently
taken out of service and its
capstone removed.
A large Mars-quake starts and ash starts
falling down from the ceiling and a very
large bang is heard. When the dust settles
everyone notices the entrance has been sealed
by are large stone door, blocking all escape.
MYRA
Oh shit, what now!
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS PLAIN HOURS LATER
EXT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE
INT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE - LARGE ROOM
Rolf and Dunn are seen scanning the stone floor
with a sonar device and marking some stone slabs
with a scribe. They continue to brush away the
heavy accumulation of ash from the inside of the
ancient structure. Myra has been running tests to
determine how stable and how long the breathable
environment of Oxygen is good for.
DUNN
You know Rolf, the GIZA PYRAMIDS,
after all these years are still
coming up with new secret passage
ways.
ROLF
So what you're saying is that
that if the people who built
the GIZA pyramids had secret
passage ways the we have to
assume we have some here.
DUNN
It's an archaeological fact
that the new trap doors and
chambers are found all the
time.
ROLF
What if this structure was a
beacon for pilots of ancient
aircraft to guide them in
when they coming back from
another interstellar trip.
DUNN
The answer to the Great Pyramid
function lies in ancient texts

powers of the Pyramid. You know
what? I noticed this pyramid
still has its capstone.
Another Mars-quake starts and ash continues to
fall from the ceiling.
MYRA
Oh guys here's the best I can
do on the estimate you wanted.
At the current consumption rate
of air we have six hours and
ten minutes! Then by going on
the portable oxygen re-breathers,
we should have another two hours.
DUNN
Frank were you able to get any
of my people on the radio?
FRANK
Yes I did and they want to
come out here in the cargo
ship and blast open the door.
DUNN
Tell them if they don't hear
from us in the next six to
eight hours, go ahead and
blast the door.
FRANK
Yes sir!
ROLF
Dunn, the sonar is going
ape-shit, look at all the
indicators they're all
going wild!
Dunn drops to his knees where Rolf is pointing
the probe of the sonar device. He scribes a
large arc with his heavy survival knife.
DUNN
This is it, there's some kind
of a passageway down there!
ROLF
(Pointing to a stone block)
The size of the arc you scribed
covers most of that one large
square block.
Dunn runs over to his tool box and removes a heavy
crowbar and a large hammer. He returns to Rolfs
side.
DUNN
We did this once before on one
of our trips to the Yucatan.
We found the tomb of a young
prince in one of the Mayan
Pyramids.
Dunn wedges the sharp end of the crowbar into the
deep crack holding the block in place. He then
hands the hammer to Rolf.
DUNN (Cont.)
Ok Rolf whack it real good!

ROLF
It's coming loose!
The stone finally comes lose and pops open like
a wine cork, revealing a dark hole. Air rushes
out the large hole and fills the room with
more breathable air.
DUNN
There is air down there, breathable
air. Where do you suppose it's
coming from?
ROLF
Damn, this is really something, air
on Mars?
The group shine their flashlights down into the hole
and see a set of stairs going down into the Abyss.
DUNN
I will go down into the Abyss and
see if I can find a way out. Any
volunteers who want to go with me?
FRANK
I'll go with you.
ROLF
If you find a way out call us on
the radio so Myra and I can
follow.
FRANK
Ok Dunn, let's do it!
DUNN
The Mayan pyramid in Mexico
was constructed with a trap
door like this. Look at this
Rolf more Libyan, and Arabic
scripts.
(Pointing to the stones)
They start descending down into the abyss and
comments are heard as they descend. Rolf is
pointing his powerful light down into the
hole but they finally disappear.
INT. DUNN AND FRANK ARE DEEP IN THE INTERIOR OF
A MARTIAN TUNNEL.
FRANK
Do you think there's a way out?
DUNN
There seems to be certain
similarities in this design
to the one in Mexico.
FRANK
As in?
DUNN
Look Frank, the tunnel splits
here. You take the left and
I'll go down the right. Check
with me every five minutes.
Let's do a radio check now.
(Dunn activates radio)
"Dunn to Frank, over"
FRANK
"Frank to Dunn, read you five
by five" over and out.

INT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE - LARGE ROOM
Rolf and Myra continue to dust the very heavy
accumulation of ash from the inside of the ancient
structure.
ROLF
Myra, how is the breathable air
mixture doing?
MYRA
Ever since we opened that trap
door down there we have more
than enough air with no end
in sight!
Another quake starts and ash continues to
fall down from the ceiling.
MYRA (Cont.)
Shit, I wish these quakes would
stop!
DUNN (V.O.)
Rolf, Frank I think I found
something.
FRANK (V.O.)
Yeah, me too!
CUT TO:
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
EXT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGRROUND CITY
Rolf and Myra join Dunn and Frank who are both
standing on the edge of an underground cliff
overlooking an ancient underground city. The
large cavern is the size of one of the larger
indoor sports centers like the Dallas Superdome.
They see small lakes, rivers and streams and
many small Pyramid structures.
DUNN
People this is a major find?
ROLF
I'm speechless!
MYRA
Shit, somebody please wake me up!
FRANK
I can't wait to go down there
and see what we can find?
DUNN
United Space Alliance regulations
specify biological assessment
before we enter alien territory.
ROLF
(Pissed)
Well that shouldn't take more than
six months to get the ok from Earth
command.
MYRA
(Pissed)
Do we have to tell them? Can't
we just say we accidentally
fell into it after going down
an ancient tunnel? If we wait
for the USA bunch to get here
they won't leave a damn thing
for anyone else!
FRANK
Come on let's go take a peek.
My mentor always told me it was
ok to bend the law, just don't
break it.
DUNN
Well it's up to you Rolf, this is
your command.
ROLF
FUCK'EM let's do it!
CUT TO:
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
EXT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGRROUND CITY
Myra and Frank are following Dunn and Rolf through
the long treacherous mountain trail to the city
and are maneuvering one switchback after another.
Myra is staying very close to Frank and keeps
looking behind her.
FRANK
(Looking at Myra)
It looks like you're expecting
someone or something to jump
out at us.
MYRA
I keep getting the feeling that
someone is watching us..
The team has now descended in a canyon and
the walls are very high and precipitous.
The soft soil has now turn to sandstone
and they come to a large river. They all
stop and Dunn points his sonar device at
the river..
DUNN
This river is three feet at it's
deepest point so, just follow me
and stay close behind.
They watch as Dunn and Rolf walk into the
river and they ford ahead. Frank and Myra
follow and they meet on the other side of
the river.
MYRA
It appears there was a bridge here
thousands of years ago but some of
the floods in the area tore it down.
Frank, I don't like to be the last
person, do you mind if I get ahead
of you?
FRANK
Sure, go for it.
Frank watches as Myra follows Dunn and Rolf
and he admires her trim figure and convinces
himself he would be happy with her forever
if he would have her.
MYRA
How much farther?
Dunn stops and glances at a device on his
belt looking like a beeper and touches a
button..
DUNN
(Alert)
About another half an hour,
at this speed. Notice the
narrow pass ahead and watch
for more surprises.
Rolf senses someone is watching them so he
hesitates for a minute and turning around
to check behind them he sees what appears
to be something or someone in the shadows.
He taps Dunn on the shoulder and when he
looks back the image disappears.
MYRA
Dunn, are we in any danger?
ROLF
Myra, follow me close and don't
leave my side?
Dunn continues down the small canyon exposing
ancient writings on the wall.
ROLF
(Looking at Dunn)
What language is that?
DUNN
MAYAN.
ROLF
Mayan, what the hell were
Mayans doing down here?
DUNN
I believe thousands of years ago
Ancient civilizations visited
each other all the time. You
know, Sumerians, Egyptians
and of course the Mayans.
ROLF
How did any of the ancient
civilizations on earth survive
the great flood?
DUNN
I think a lot of them went
underground and were able to
save some of their Ancient
civilizations. Just like what
the Martians did here.
MYRA
Wow, this is like a dream!
So what your saying is the Mayans
didn't create their own writings
and language but were taught this
language by space visitors?
DUNN
How else would you see these
writings millions of miles
out in space. We're getting
close to the underground city.
By the way be very careful from
here on, ancient cities always
had booby traps near the entrance
to their cities.
FRANK
(Screaming)
Rolf! Rolf help!
Frank is seen just for s split second as he drops
into an opening in the sandy soil and as he goes
through the loose sand covers up again leaving no
trace of him. Myra goes ballistic and starts
screaming. Rolf tries to calm her down.
DUNN
Damn, this is terrible.
ROLF
What the hell is going on?
MYRA
Rolf, we have to dig in the
sand and find Frank.
DUNN
He's gone my dear. We had a
similar accident down in the
Yucatan. A very popular thing
in those days was to surround
the city with moats, mud or
quicksand. Stepping on a
triggering block by one person
would activate another block
that would catch usually the
last person of the party.
ROLF
(Very emotional)
Frank, Frank is gone.
Dunn looks at Rolf and Myra and motions
them to follow him across the narrow
land bridge that traverses the two huge
cliffs where the Abyss is seen looking
down several thousand feet. They cross
then stop at another rock wall. Dunn
points his device at a rock step and
a large hole opens in the path. They
walk around it. Dunn is now standing
on a narrow ledge with Myra and Rolf.
A surrealistic valley is seen in the
distance where two beautiful rivers
intersect and feed into a large lake.
MYRA
Rolf, please don't let me
fall or get hurt!
Rolf grabs MYRA'S arm and gets closer to her.
She returns the gesture and pulls him closer.
MYRA (Cont.)
Maybe we shouldn't have come
down here.
DUNN
Were getting very close.
Looking at his face looking down and seeing a very
deep gorge. A suspension bridge crosses the gorge
and is hundreds of feet long. He places his right
hand on the rope rail and they all do the same,
Myra is in the middle and Rolf is close behind.
They start the long crossing.
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS DAY
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS STRUCTURE
INT. USA SHUTTLE CRAFT
The four member team is taking coordinates to
fire their cannon at the large stone door
covering the entrance to the pyramid. The
crew of four is within seconds of firing the
cannon.
CREWMEMBER
Ok guys, were going to blast
that door off the face of mars!
A huge blast is seen coming from the shuttle
craft and the strike is seen on the face of
the door and it ricochets and comes back to
the shuttle craft striking it and completely
destroying it. The pieces of the craft are
strewn over the mars landscape and a big
cloud of smoke is seen. The pyramid door
is partially destroyed.
CUT TO:
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
EXT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGRROUND CITY
Myra and Rolf are following Dunn through the
long treacherous suspension bridge crossing
the gorge. He places his right hand on the
rope rail and they all do the same. As they
are crossing Myra is in the middle and Rolf
is close behind.
DUNN
I always feel dizzy when ever I
cross a bridge.
MYRA
Be careful?
They watch as he slowly maneuvers the foot
bridge and they follow his every step.
Dunn's heart is racing when he looks down
into the Abyss below and without any warning,
he slips off the foot bridge and goes over
the side he quickly grabs for the base rope
of the bridge and hangs on with one hand.
He dangles there looking down into the Chasm.
Rolf quickly grabs his hand and starts to
pull him up when Rolfs hand starts to slip.
MYRA
(Yelling)
Rolf, Rolf, don't let him go
I'm coming to help you, hang
on Dunn!
She's groping in the trying to find Dunn's
other hand.
MYRA (Cont.)
Ok, hang on Dunn I'll get you in
a minute
In all the excitement Myra slips on the wet
bridge and starts to go over the side, she
also catches the side of the bridge with both
hands. She starts screaming for Rolf to help
her. Rolfs is losing his grip on Dunn's hand.
Dunn is trying for a hand hold with his other
hand, then Rolf hand slips again and Dunn
plunges into total darkness of the abyss.
Rolf quickly jumps over to Myra's side and
lifts her up on the main part of the foot
bridge. Myra is laying on the bottom of the
foot bridge crying and screaming.
MYRA
Oh my god Rolf first Frank then
Dunn, this place is cursed!!
ROLF
Oh my god Myra, I thought I had
lost you.
MYRA
(Smiling)
Rolf, thank you for saving me,
I will always owe you for that!
They continue on the foot bridge until they
get to the other side and start on the path
again. Myra is following Rolf in very close
quarters when they come upon a stone street,
and they follow it to a narrow part where
tall cliffs are on each side. As they go
through they come upon a beautiful sight
where many pyramids are seen.
MYRA
I've never seen this many
Pyramids in one place at
one time.
ROLF
Stay very close to me, we're
going in.
They slowly walk up to one of the Pyramids,
and disappear inside the door.
INT. ANCIENT PYRAMID - MAIN ROOM
Rolf and Myra sit down on the stone floor inside of
the ancient structure.
ROLF
Myra, are you ok?
MYRA
Ever since we opened that trap
door down there we have had
nothing but bad luck. The hell
with it Rolf it's not worth it.
ROLF
Let's rest a few hours then we'll
leave.
He very emotionally hugs Myra and they kiss
tenderly. They are both exhausted and fall
asleep in a few minutes. Rolf wakes up sometime
later and is shocked when he sees Myra is gone!
Rolf activates his radio and attempts to locate
Myra.
ROLF
Myra, come in this Rolf, Myra
come in!
Rolf goes out into the street and continues to
try to contact Myra.
ROLF
Myra, come in this Rolf, Myra
come in!
MYRA (V.O.)
Rolf this is Myra, I'm ok. You
were asleep, so I went for a
walk, but I think I'm lost.
ROLF
Myra, if you can find the entrance
to the city, I'll meet you there,
over!
MYRA
Ok, I'll try. Over and out.
Rolf backtracks to the trail leading into the city.
He finds a large stone and sits on it. He notices
something moving in the shadows and attempts to
view it with his field glasses.
ROLF
(Talking to himself)
Myra, Myra, where are you!
Hello, what do we have here?
Rolf sees an image of a person or animal in the
shadows of a pyramid. He continues to observe
this thing and he wants to leave his position
but feels waiting for Myra is more important.
ROLF
Myra, this is Rolf I'm at the
entrance to the city, I'm
waiting for you, over!
MYRA (V.O.)
Rolf, I think there is someone
or something, following me. ROLF
Myra, I'm going to discharge a
flare, see if you can spot it
from where you are. Here goes!
Rolf holds a flare pistol straight up in the air
and lets go with the first flare. It fires and a
brilliant salute is seen in the subdued light of
the underground city.
MYRA (V.O.)
I see it Rolf, I see it. I'm
running to that location now!
Looking into the shadows Rolf sees Myra running
to him with her arms open. Rolf runs to her and
throws his arms around her.
MYRA
(Crying)
I was so scared Rolf, something
kept following me, but I just
couldn't make it out!
Rolf embraces her and they are seen sitting on a
rock. He caresses her face with his hand. In that
split second he realizes that all this time he's
been in love with her and didn't realize it. He
holds her tenderly giving her a very passionate
kiss. She responds and they both are lost in a
few minutes of romantic interlude. A low muffle
is heard in the distance. Rolf stands up and
removes his service BERETTA nine millimeter pistol
from his holster and aims it in the direction of
the noise.
ROLF
What the hell was that?
A young man emerges from the shadows and stops
twenty to thirty feet away. He appears to be
about sixteen to eighteen years old and has
blond hair and blue eyes. He makes a gesture
with his hand, indicating he's unarmed. Rolf
holds up the USA Universal Translator pointing
the probe towards the young man.
ROLF
Who are you. You make come closer
we won't hurt you.
YOUNG MAN (Alien Dialect)
I am JOEL. My parents are dead
and I am all that's left of my
people. Where are you from.
ROLF
We are from Earth. I am Rolf and
this is my partner Myra. Are you
from this planet?
JOEL
I'm from a planet millions of
light years away. Our star was
dying so we decided to migrate
here. Where is Earth?
MYRA
We are from the third planet in
a star system with nine planets.
JOEL
Would you like to come with me to
my shelter. I have comfort and food
for you and your mate. You may turn
off your translator, I have now
synchronized my language patterns
with yours and I'm now able to speak
your language, English.
Rolf looks at Myra with questioning looks.
MYRA
Rolf he seems harmless, lets go.
He has no visible weapons.
They follow Joel for several minutes then he
stops in front of a pyramid. He removes a
device from his belt, points it at the door
and it opens. He walks in and they follow.
INT. INTERIOR OF THE PYRAMID
Rolf and Myra look around and find the appointments
quite pleasing. The floor has a form of fibrous
covering resembling carpet. Several chairs are seen.
He motions for them to sit down and he walks into
a smaller room. Rolf and Myra sit down and continue
to glance around while Joel is gone. He returns in
a few moments bringing a hot liquid resembling tea.
JOEL
This is a very relaxing beverage.
I hope you enjoy it.
They drink the liquid and appear to enjoy the taste.
ROLF
We were trapped in a pyramid up
above and were forced to come
down here. Is there anyway to
get out so we can join our party?
JOEL
There's no air on the surface, how
will you breath?
MYRA
We have breathing machines. How long
have you been down here?
JOEL
Since my parents passed away. Five
Mars months. It was very difficult
at first being alone, but I very
slowly got used to it. I was able
to contact some of my people who
have migrated to a planet similar
to this one, but served by another
star system. They are on their way
to rescue me and should be here in
a few weeks.
ROLF
This liquid is very delicious, what
is it, a form of tea?
JOEL
It's JACKARA an herb that grows wild
here in the underground city.
MYRA
What is the source of the natural
oxidation down here?
JOEL
The volcanic action down here has
provided natural reservoirs of
of breathable air. This environment
is sealed from the outside and as
long as that seal is not broken the
air down here is very breathable.
ROLF
What did your parents die of?
JOEL
They both went up on the surface
to get coordinates for our rescue
party and they did not return.
When I found them it appeared
they had died of some terrible
disease. A virus or something.
I'll be right back.
Joel leaves the room and returns with what appears
to be stew served in three bowls. He gives one to
Myra and one to Rolf. He gives himself one and
sits down and starts to eat.
ROLF
Joel, what is the name of your
planet and the name of your
species.
JOEL
My planet is called CYRIS TWO and
is in the DELPHI STAR SYSTEM. Like
I said our sun burned out so we
had to migrate to other planets
with the same environment. My
species is called CYRIANS and we
are very much like you Earth people
except we have longer life spans.
Our expected life span is five
hundred of your Earth years.
MYRA
How come you didn't migrate to Earth
when your sun was burning out?
JOEL
We had made several trips to
your planet but after careful
study decided not to migrate
to Earth.
ROLF
Why?
JOEL
I don't mean to be disrespectful
but your species is too violent.
ROLF
I can understand that. Joel will
you please show us the way out,
we need to rejoin our people.
JOEL
Yes of course, we shall leave first
thing after our rest time. Please
beware of the terrible disease that
killed my parents. This stew we are
eating is made from fresh fish I
catch down here. Would you like to
join me and people when we migrate
to another planet?
MYRA
Thank you for the invitation, but
we love our planet more than we
love ourselves.
JOEL
Oh I see, how nice. I must rest now
so you may use any of the three
bedrooms you will find in this
structure. I usually sleep here
in the main room. My sleep period
is ten hours, I will see you then.
After finishing their meal Rolf and Myra retire to
the bedrooms offered and both stop when they see
the first one.
MYRA
I know we have a choice of rooms but
will you let me sleep with you Rolf,
I'm really scared.
ROLF
My pleasure. The temperature seems
comfortable so why don't we just
sleep in our underclothes. Is that
satisfactory to you?
MYRA
Yes, of course.
They remove their outer clothes and climb into
bed and turn off the small candle light next
to the bed.
CUT TO :
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGRROUND CITY
INT. TRAIL TO THE SURFACE
Myra and Rolf are following Joel on a trail he
said will bring them on the surface of ARES
VALLIS PLAIN.
JOEL
There are many dangers on this
planet, some obvious, some subtle
and some well hidden.
MYRA
How much longer before we come
up on top?
Joel smiles at Rolf and checks a device on his
belt.
JOEL
Rolf my friend your mate is very
impatient, but our females are
very similar. We should be up
on top in a few minutes.
MYRA
That's because Men are from Mars
and women are from Venus. We like
to get things done. Men talk about
it we do it!
JOEL
Your mate is very spirited. I would
like to buy her if she's for sale.
ROLF
How much will you pay me for her?
JOEL
Whatever you want?
ROLF
What is the medium for exchange in
youR society?
JOEL
Same as yours, Diamonds, Gold and
silver.
MYRA
Ok, Ok, I'm not for sale. And
furthermore I'm not his mate.
JOEL
I'm sorry, but when I saw both of
you sleeping in the same bed, I
assumed you were mates.
MYRA
Bad assumption! If you want to buy
me, you negotiate with me not him!
I can see sunshine, we must be near
the top! Rolf we need to put our
oxygen re-breather on, what about
you, Joel, do you have oxygen with
you?
JOEL
I will not be going outside until
my people arrive. So I will wait
here, just inside the entrance to
this tunnel. After one hour, if you
do not return, I will assume
everything is all right and return
to my quarters. is that acceptable
to both of you?
ROLF
Yes of course, we appreciate your
help in getting us topside.
Rolf and Myra are seen placing there oxygen
re-breather masks on. They wave goodbye to
Joel and disappear outside of the tunnel
entrance.
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS DAY
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS STRUCTURE
INT. DESTROYED USA SHUTTLE CRAFT
Rolf and Myra are looking at what's left of the
shuttle craft belonging to the Space Station
Alpha crew. Body parts of the four crew members
are seen strewn on the Mars landscape. To their
terror they discover the blast has also damaged
their shuttle craft which was parked in close
proximity to the Space Station Shuttle Craft.
Rolf and Myra walk over to their shuttle Craft
examining it and shaking their heads when they
discover it's a total loss.
ROLF
(Really pissed)
What now Myra?
MYRA
(Crying)
Shit! We can't win for losing!
Myra sits on the soft mixture of ash and sand,
placing her knees up and embracing them then
in a rocking motion crying and yelling!
MYRA
I hate this fucking place!
Rolf sits down next to her, and places his arm
around her trying to comfort her.
ROLF
We have to get back to Joel,
it's the only option we have
left. We will have to double
time it all the way back or
we'll miss him.
CUT TO:
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGRROUND CITY
INT. TRAIL TO THE SURFACE
Myra and Rolf are running to the entrance of the
tunnel and see Joel is still waiting for them.
He yells at them we he sees them.
JOEL
What happened?
Rolf and Myra run inside the tunnel pulling off
their masks.
ROLF
(Catching his breath)
There is nothing left, both of the
shuttles are gone, and the space
station crew is dead.
CUT TO:
EXT. ARES VALLIS PLAIN
EXT. ANCIENT STRUCTURE
INT. ANCIENT UNDERGROUND CITY
Myra and Rolf are following Joel through the
long treacherous trail on the way back to
his home. As they are crossing a very high
cliff Myra stops, sits down and starts to
cry. Joel stops and tries to comfort her.
Rolf is close behind.
JOEL
Myra, pull yourself together.
MYRA
Try to pull myself together?
Three of my best friends die
from the virus, one falls down
an open hole, another slips
off a bridge and four crewman
lose their lives, and you tell
me to pull myself together?
Will you please tell me what in
the fuck is going to happen next?
They watch as she continues to sob, then
she slowly regains her composure. She
then rises, slowly maneuvering herself
so she has good footing. They all
continue on the trail until they
arrive at Joel's house. He walks in
and they follow.
INT. INTERIOR OF THE PYRAMID
Rolf and Myra sink into the large leather sofa.
Myra places her head on Rolfs shoulders. He
places his arm around her, kissing her tenderly.
Joel goes into the kitchen and returns with
drinks.
JOEL
This is a very perplexing set
of events. But you two still
have a view options open.
ROLF
And they are?
JOEL
Go with me to my new home in
the outer galaxies or die
slowly here.
MYRA
I think we have a few more options
than that!
JOEL
If we can get back to our bio-center
which is about twelve-miles south, we
can wait there for the Earth rescue
ship.
JOEL
I don't think you have enough
oxygen to let you walk that
far.
MYRA
No shit.
ROLF
Are there any underground
passageways that would
enable us to get to our
bio-center?
JOEL
Not that I know of, but there
could be.
MYRA
Well I guess that just about
does it. Where do we buy a
ticket to go with you Joel?
JOEL
A ticket? That's not necessary
you both will be my guests and
my people will love to have
you along.
MYRA
(Blowing her nose)
Thank you Joel, you're a good
friend.
JOEL
My pleasure. Rolf, will you be
going with us?
ROLF
No, I'll take my chances here.
MYRA
Rolf, I won't go without you!
The exhaustion is too much for Myra and she falls
asleep in Rolfs arms. He later falls asleep too.
INT. INTERIOR OF ALIEN SPACE CRAFT
Rolf and Myra are seen sitting in confinement
chairs on the bridge of a medium size space craft.
Joel is piloting the craft and is dressed in a
very attractive uniform. He glances back from
his captains chair and notices Rolf and Myra
are awakening. Myra wakes up in a start and
pulls on her manacled hands and feet. Rolf
wakes up and is also pulling on his bindings.
Rolf is really pissed when he discovers they
have been drugged and kidnapped.
ROLF
What the hell do you think your
doing Joel. You can't kidnap us?
MYRA
Right, take these goddamn things
off Joel.
ROLF
Why have you done this Joel, I
thought you were our friend.
MYRA
Joel, say something goddamn it!
Joel places the craft on auto-pilot and moves to
a chair closer to Rolf and Myra.
JOEL
I'm afraid I have some bad news for
you two, my friends.
MYRA
I can't hardly wait to hear!
JOEL
Rolf, I'm taking you to a colony on
Marquez-6, where I will be paid a
handsome sum for someone in good
health like you. Myra, you are going
with me to my planet and will join
my other wives.
MYRA
In a pigs ass. I'll kill myself
first before I'll be your wife!
ROLF
Why are you doing this to us, I
thought we were very good friends,
JOEL
Oh we are. You know if I wanted
to I could just kill both of you,
and be on my way.
MYRA
What are you a slave trader?
JOEL
No not exactly. I consider myself
a very astute collector! Now relax,
we a very long journey ahead of us!
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS DAY
EXT. ALIEN SPACE SHIP
A very sleek spaceship is seen climbing into
deep space. The Mars landscape is seen in the
background. The craft dips and stabilizes. Warp
drive is engaged and the craft disappears.
MYRA (V.O.)
Rolf, wake up,, wake up, are
you ok?
Rolf is still yelling great obscenities at Joel
when Myra shakes him, waking him up. When he
discovers he's had a bad dream he gives a
sheepish grin to Myra and shakes his head.
He clears the heavy perspiration from his
brow and gives Myra a big hug.
MYRA
(Smiling)
You want to share the dream with me?
ROLF
I had a nightmare that Joel
drugged us and kidnapped us.
(Smiling)
He added you to his harem of happy
wives. And I got shit-canned to some
mining colony called MARQUEZ.
MYRA
You know I never really had you
pegged for a dreamer.
Joel enters the room with a alarmed look on his face.
JOEL
Is everything ok? I heard some
yelling and screaming.
Myra smiles at Rolf not wanting to give away his
stupid dream.
ROLF
I had a dream about you Joel.
You drugged and kidnapped us
then took me to some mining
colony and you added Myra
to your list of wives.
Joel finds a place to sit down and has a bewildered
look on his face.
JOEL
I don't understand.
MYRA
Rolf was dreaming. Don't you
ever dream?
JOEL
What do you do when you dream?
MYRA
Do you want the short version
or long version?
JOEL
I want to know all about it.
MYRA
A dream is being unconscious,
living out a scene in your
life but having no control
over it. Most people have
no control over their dreams.
And usually don't remember
what the dream was about.
JOEL
Why can't you control what you
dream?
MYRA
That's called lucid dreaming.
JOEL
Lucid, dreaming?
MYRA
LUCID DREAMING, is the act of
dreaming with total awareness
to the fact that you're dreaming,
and thereby having the option
to alter the dream itself.
JOEL
Your saying when your resting
and you lose conciseness you
live another life?
MYRA
Yes, pretty much and with Lucid
Dreaming you can control what
you will be dreaming about.
JOEL
So Commander Rolf forced a dream?
MYRA
Joel, you've never had a dream before?
JOEL
No, is that bad?
MYRA
It's not good or bad.
JOEL
Did commander Rolf have a lucid
dream?
MYRA
Not exactly. Commanders make a lot
of decisions during the course of
a day and they sometimes force a
dream unconsciously, to more or less
check out or better yet test what
they are doing in real life
experiences.
JOEL
Oh I see.
MYRA
You look like your not completely
convinced.
JOEL
Why does the commander think
that I would hurt you or him?
MYRA
He's probably concerned because
you wanted to buy me. In our
society men don't buy wives.
JOEL
How do they get a mate?
MYRA
Romance?
JOEL
Romance, will you show me romance?
ROLF
(Laughing)
Yes Myra know-it-all why don't
you show the boy all about romance?
MYRA
(Looking at Joel)
I'm sorry Joel but your mother or
father will have to teach you about
Romance and Love, ok.
(Looking at Rolf)
Rolf, sometimes what you eat or drink
will cause nightmares. What have you
eaten in the last six hours.
ROLF
I had a slice of Rye bread I found in
Joel's kitchen. Why?
MYRA
Maybe it was ERGOT.
ROLF
What the hell is ERGOT?
MYRA
Ergot is a fungal disease of rye,
sometimes used as an ABORTIFACIENT,
sometimes consumed as food, produces
hallucinations and EPIPHANOUS visions
eventually leading to very bad dreams
and sometimes even slow and painful
death involving the loss of limbs or
canonization.
ROLF
Fungal?
MYRA
Ergot is the SCLEROTIUM, or the
form the plant assumes to pass
in the winter of the mushroom
CLAVICEPS PURPUREA, which is
parasitic on rye, wheat, barley
and other cultivated grains, and
which also infests wild grasses.
ROLF
(Losing it)
Oh please Doctor JENKINS, your
Saying one slice of Rye bread
Caused my nightmare and could
of cost me my Life.
MYRA
During the Middle Ages, mass
poisonings by ergot alkaloids
occurred throughout Europe. A
cool, wet growing and harvesting
season was a prerequisite to
heavy infestation of the grain
with ergot, and rye was
especially more susceptible.
JOEL
This type of bread that you call
RYE, is the staple of my peoples
Food supply.
MYRA
Even with modern techniques of
harvesting, small amounts of
ergot are generally present in
all harvested rye.
ROLF
Your scaring the boy.
JOEL
I want to know?
MYRA
Ergot had also been used medicinally
in Europe since antiquity, by white
witches or midwives. It was employed
as an ECBOLIC, or a drug to
precipitate childbirth.
JOEL
I understand.
MYRA
HYDERGINE an ergot alkaloid
extract originally developed
to improve blood flow in the
brains of stroke victims and
people with epilepsy. Drugs of
this type act by dilating
blood vessels.
The entire room shakes and dust is falling from the
ceiling knocking all of them to the floor.
MYRA
Damn, when are these after
shocks going to stop.
Water starts coming up between the stones in the floor.
The BERBER carpeting starts to get damp. Geysers of
water are now squirting all over the room. The whole
structure starts to shake and hydraulic sound are heard
and the room seems to be moving. They quickly get up
off the floor and run out the front door. As they
are going out Myra trips and falls banging her right
knee badly. The blood is pouring out, Rolf grabs her
under the arms carrying her out the door, right behind
Joel.
MYRA
(Screaming)
Fuck, what now! Rolf what now?
ROLF
Myra your guess is as good as mine!
They are seen running and limping down the main
cobblestone street, in the background buildings
are toppling with water coming up everywhere.
Joel leads them to the narrow road leading out
of the city. As the approach a high bluff Joel
stops and throws himself on the soft sandy bluff
all the other do the same.
JOEL
(Out of breath)
This is a high point down here
so we should be ok.
MYRA
(Crying)
Joel, what the hell happen
down there?
JOEL
I think the ancient city had an
ice bottom, so when the volcanic
action started again, the heat
probably melted the ice and
everything fell in the melted
ice lake.
ROLF
All of our gear was back there,
so what do we do now.
MYRA
(Screaming and crying)
I hate this fucking place!
The entire underground city is destroyed and they
sit there looking at a large lake where the city
was.
ROLF
(Looking at Myra)
How's your knee?
MYRA
I'll live.
ROLF
Ok, Joel, help me carry Myra
and we'll head for the Pyramid
on the surface.
MYRA
Why, Rolf we saw what was left
of it, I don't understand.
ROLF
I'll take my chances up there
then drowning like a bunch of
rats down here.
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS DAY
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS STRUCTURE
INT. COMING UP THROUGH THE TUNNEL
Rolf, Myra and Joel emerge from the tunnel and
start coughing due to the lack of air. Rolf
runs over to the damaged front entrance and
finds the MYLAR curtain ripped in one place.
He seals it with duct tape from his utility
belt and runs back to the other two and finds
a large oxygen tank and cracks it open. They
all start coughing as the breathable starts
to accumulate in the room. A backup radio
left by the Alpha crew starts to sqwak and
Rolf picks it up.
ROLF
This is commander Rolf Landers over.
The speaker starts to screech and a familiar voice
comes through.
VOICE (V.O.)
Commander Landers this is Captain Cole
of the cargo ship BANTA II. We were sent
here to backup the rescue team from the
Alpha Space station. Over.
ROLF
God bless all of you. Where are you
located. Over.
COLE (V.O.)
We are in a close fifty-mile orbit
above your position. Over.
ROLF
Great, can you send someone down
to get us? Over.
COLE (V.O.)
I will send my shuttle down directly.
Be ready to board. Our sensors show a
very large dust storm headed for your
position so we can't wait. Over.
ROLF
We will be ready. We are now inside
a large Pyramid on the surface at
this location and will come out as
soon as we hear your shuttle. Over.
COLE (V.O.)
Roger, we'll see you in a few. Over
and out.
ROLF
Over and out.
Rolf looks at Joel then at Myra. They both look like
they have been to hell and back.
ROLF (Cont.)
Joel, you're welcome to come with
us back to Earth or you can stay
at the Alpha Space Station until
your people arrive.
JOEL
I will stay here. Don't worry
about me, I'll be just fine.
ROLF
As you wish.
CUT TO:
EXT. MARS ARES VALLIS DAY
EXT. USA SHUTTLE CRAFT
The shuttle is seen climbing into the red Mars
horizon then into space heading for the orbiting
cargo ship.
MYRA (V.O.)
I hope Joel will be ok.
COLE (V.O.)
Who's Joel?
ROLF (V.O.)
A friend we left behind.
COLE (V.O.)
Commander Landers from our first
contact down there we only had
two signatures shown on our
monitors. So if there was someone
else it must have been a ghost.
FADE OUT
