The previous day at the
Duke farm. Jesse sat at the kitchen table worrying about Bo and Luke, they
should've returned home hours ago. Daisy was making dinner. She could sense
his worry, and even though she was worried she wsa hiding her worry from
him.
"Don't worry Uncle Jesse I'm sure that the
boys are just fine. They'll be back at any minute." Daisy said.
"I can't help but worry about them. We haven't
heard from them all day, they should've been home by now." Jesse said.
"I'm sure that they are fine." Daisy said.
They heard a car pull to a stop outside the farm house.
"Maybe that is them now." Daisy said, and
rushed to the door and opened it.
However it wasn't Bo and Luke it was Rosco, who had come to look for
Bo and Luke.
"Rosco, what are you doing here?" Daisy asked
as Rosco came inside the house.
"Alright now where are Bo and Luke?" Rosco
asked.
"We haven't heard from them since this morning."
Jesse said.
"Oh tiddely, where are you hiding them?" Rosco
asked.
"We don't know where they are Rosco. They
are missing." Daisy said, her voice starting to show that she was worried.
Rosco looked at Daisy and Jesse and he could tell from the worry in
their eyes that they weren't lying and that Bo and Luke were really missing.
They heard another car outside, then Cooter walked in.
"Hey y'all I found the General . . ." Cooter
started to say. "What's going on here?" he asked.
"Bo and Luke are missing." Daisy said biting
back the tears that were forming in her eyes.
"That explains why I found the General just
sitting there. Looks like he's been in an accident." Cooter said.
"Accident?" Jesse question his voice fraught
with worry.
"Looks like they went off the road and slammed
to a stop against the tree. Didn't see them around anywhere."
Daisy sat down at the table, her eyes watered with tears of worry about
her cousins.
Outside it had grown dark and had begun to rain.
"I am sure they are fine. Them boys can take
care of themsleves." Cooter said.
"Tomorrow morning me and Enos will help you
look for them." Rosco said.
"Thank you Rosco." Jesse said.
Rosco then left the farmhouse. Cooter sat down at
the table. He could sense Jesse and Daisy's worry, he was also worried
Bo and Luke were his best friends. Cooter stayed for dinner, then left,
taking the General to the garage to fix him.
Early the next morning Jesse, Daisy, Cooter,
Rosco and Enos were all out looking for Bo and Luke. Jesse was out looking
by the Rainbow Mines. He searched the area but found nothing. The storm
last night had washed away all signs that Bo and Luke had been there the
previous day. Jesse thought it was odd that the boards were missing from
in front of the mine, but figured that it had happened during the storm
last night.
Jesse walked back to his old white pick up
truck. A feeling of worrystranger then before swept over him. As though
sensing the danger they were currently in on the other world. He was filled
with fear for Bo and Luke's lives. He didn't know what he would do if anything
happened to them. He cared about them like they were his own children.
He picked up the CB.
"This is Jesse calling the hunting party anyone
got their ears on?"
Daisy was just getting back into her jeep, Dixie, when she heard Jesse's
call on the CB she grabbed the CB and responded. "This is Daisy.
Did you find anything Uncle Jesse."
"No. There is nothing out at the Rainbow Mines."
"There is nothing at the old sawmill either."
Daisy said.
"I just had this feeling that they are in
some kind of danger." Jesse said.
"I am sure that they are okay Uncle Jesse.
Bo and Luke can take care of themselves. We will find them." Daisy said.
Not only trying to convince him but to convince herself of that as well.
Jesse couldn't help to shake the feeling that Bo
and Luke were in some kind of danger. He prayed that Daisy was right and
that Bo and Luke would be okay.
Everyone continued to search for the boys.
They were all worried even Rosco was worried. Even though he was always
chasing Bo and Luke and trying to arrest them, he hated the though of anything
bad happening to them.
