About the Campaign

WHAT DOES THE SAVE AOS CAMPAIGN HOPE TO ACCOMPLISH?

Save Aos exists to bring back Sinbad either as a two hour movie or (keeping our fingers crossed) a renewed series.

Our primary focus is the letter writing campaign. The Powers That Be will neither know nor care that we're out here unless we let them know! The SAVE AoS campaign, although organized by a handful of individuals, is a campaign for ALL Sinbad FANS! This is your fight!!!! It is only through individual efforts that we can, as a group, accomplish what we have set out to do--PUT SINBAD BACK ON THE NOMAD! One loud voice can be lost in the din...but a thousand voices in harmony, can not be ignored!

How many voices are we talking here? Well. One single rating point (1%) equals 959,000 households. I was doing a little search for ratings info and found one site. Just doing a surface search, I found that for the week of October 7-14, 1996, Sinbad came in at 3.4%.

And what about the letters? 1 letter = 28,000 households; 2=56,000; 3=84,000; 4=112,000 and so on. Does that help?

Our *secondary* focus is going to events that will promote our efforts to renew AoS. Science fiction conventions are a good primary targets as that is where we can reach many fans in a short amount of time. We encourage fans to organize Save AoS tables and/or FK panels at cons--the organizers are usually very happy to accommodate people who are willing to fill time slots!! Make up flyers and distribute them at these conventions. There is always a "freebie" table where you can proudly display your information. Some of the fans who attend these cons may not be online. This is the BEST way to spread the news!!!

We will soon have a list of conventions and get togethers on this site. AoS fans need to socialize with other AoS fans--it's a quirk of nature! Contact Save Sinbad with your party plans--then provide pens and paper for other fans to write letters! It's a great way to meet other fans and share letter writing ideas!!!

WHAT SHOULD I WRITE IN MY LETTERS?

The main idea is to be honest. Tell them your age, where you live, how long you've been watching AoS and how much you'd like to see it back on TV. Do not, however, put anything on the envelope that might indicate you are a AoS fan or are writing about the show. These letters are often considered "fannish" and you run the risk of being ignored.

Be business-like...explain why you're writing and why you think it will be profitable to have the show back in production. Tell them what kind of AoS merchandise you would like to buy. BUT TELL THEM YOU WANT MORE SINBAD!

And don't forget to let us know how many letters you've written to each address, and which (if any) faction you would like to credit your letters to - let's see which affiliation is the most dedicated!!!!

WHO CAN WE CONTACT WITH QUESTIONS?

Any questions, suggestions or ideas about SOSinbad or about how you can help to further the campaign can be sent to Susanna or Joanna.

ONE FINAL WORD:

There have been many people involved, in one way or the other, with the campaign since its inception. They have been there to guide us, to help us, to listen to our rants and provide shoulders to cry on. We'd like to thank everyone who have lent their minds to new ideas, and have given their time to help with this campaign and send out letters and e-mails.
