To The Lauderdale's Universe...

We join our adventurous interviewers as they pull The Desk toward Megavolt's lighthouse hideout. Or, to be more accurate, we join Electra dragging The Desk with Zippy on top of it while Aurora walks behind it, in case the rope breaks.

Electra: Okay, *urk* I think *gasp* we're in The Lauderdale's *grunt* universe now.

Zippy: *happily* Oh spiffy! We get to interview Laudy!

Electra rolls her eyes and continues dragging The Desk until they reach the door of the lighthouse. She collapses against the wall, panting.

Zippy: *thoughtfully* Should we take The Desk up the stairs or just leave it on the ground floor?

Electra: *stares at Zippy like she's crazy* Ground floor!

Aurora: *chuckles* I'll pull it the rest of the way, El. You go ahead and rest.

Electra: Thank you. *passes out*

Zippy: *looking down at the unconscious Electra as Aurora drags The Desk inside the lighthouse* D'you think this'll have any effect on the interview?

Aurora: No. *smiles* I packed some sugar packets in The Desk. She'll be fine.

Zippy: *beams* Oh good. *she looks around the dark lighthouse curiously* You know, it's kinda silly to call it a lighthouse, it's not light.

Electra: *stumbling in* I'll take care of that in a minute. 'Ro, you said you packed sugar packets?

Aurora reaches into one of The Desk's drawers and tosses Electra a few packets.

Zippy: *calling cheerfully* Lauderdale? Laudy, you here?

Suddenly an odd avian creature with a heavy build and brown feathers pops out of the control room. She is wearing spectacles and a long tan-colored trench coat.

The Voice:…the heck?! Who are you guys and what are you doing here?

Zippy: We're here looking for Lauderdale. Are you her?

The Voice: That moron? Geez, no. Where'd you get the idea that--*Suddenly a funny look comes over The Voice's face. She stiffens and opens her beak* Hi, I'm The Lauderdale. Whaddya want?

Aurora: The Voice seems to be demonstrating signs of Dissociative Identity Disorder, more commonly known as Multiple Personlity Disorder, no doubt due to the company she keeps with Megavolt and Quackerjack.

The Lauderdale: Actually I'm just taking over my fanfic character's body for a moment.

Aurora: I like my explanation better.

Electra: Creepy-cool.

The Lauderdale: Anyway, what's up?

Zippy: Laudy! *rushes over and hugs The Lauderdale's ankle* Can we pleasepleasepleaseplease interview you?

The Lauderdale: *glances down at the tiny Zippy, who has latched onto The Voice's boot* Hey, watch the laces, kiddo. Eh. Why not? Sure, it's not like The Voice doesn't have plenty of time on her hands. *grins mischievously* Wow, she's gonna be mad when she returns to herself.

Electra chuckles and plops down in the chair accompanying The Desk and smiles. She's eaten the sugar packets, of course she's happy.

Electra: Okay, first off, how'd you come up with the name 'The Lauderdale'? Is it a nickname or your own creation?

The Lauderdale: It's my last name, RL. In high school I had about three friends with the same first name (Sarah), not to mention tons of acquaintances. So in my circle we tended to go by our last names. I still go by "Lauderdale" RL and by "The Lauderdale" on the Internet as well because I'm used to it. *grins* Annoys the heck out of my dad, who says as head of the family he should be "The Lauderdale" if anyone is. I say first come first serve. 8)

Zippy: *giggles, then pipes up* How'd you come up with such an awesome character with such an awesome superpower?

The Lauderdale: The Voice? Since when is there anything awesome about Heron? *laughs* Oh, I'm mean. Well, when I first encountered online DW stuff, including fan fiction and fanfic characters, I knew that any character I created I wanted to have a unique ability. Since I'm interested in voice acting, that gave me an idea for a talent I hadn't seen anyone use before: one for unlimited vocal abilities. (Since then I have seen two characters with sound-based super powers on the animated MIB and "Batman Beyond" series, but neither was really that similar.)
Other stuff came to me soon: she was going to hang out with Megavolt because he's my favorite DW character, she was going to be a super villain, she was going to be based on me personality and appearance-wise. Coming up with her background was a lot of fun, especially her real name, Heron Quirk: Quirk being stolen from my younger cousin (it's her last name, and in my opinion a great one) and Heron because it rhymes with "Erin", which is just a name I like. The Voice isn't anything particular, species-wise: she's pretty much a mutt. If you can use that for weird anthropomorphic bird things.

Electra: *shrugs* Not like any of us can say much about your species, none of us is quite sure what we are.

Aurora: Actually, I'm a canine.

Electra: *raises an eyebrow* What species?

Aurora: *smiles* Point taken.

Zippy: *very seriously* Now, for this next question, I'll need your complete and total honesty.

Electra: *groans* Oh, not THAT one.

Zippy: *nods* Yes. *to The Lauderdale* Do you think I look cuter as a lightbulb-like thing or as a duck?

Electra: *rolls her eyes* Gosh. *deadpan* It's one of those life-or-death kind of things, isn't it?

The Lauderdale: Lightbulb. Definitely. 8)

Zippy: *grins cheerfully*

Electra: *sarcastically* Oh good. We can all sleep peacefully now.

Aurora: How long have you been a fan of Megavolt?

The Lauderdale: Since I first saw him. Since the show began in…what was it, '92?

Electra: *nods* Yeah, I think that's it.

The Lauderdale: So long? He is in my opinion the most awesome rat/dog/weasel creature in the world. Cool superpower, great personality: hilarious, insane, wicked but weirdly likeable. Save the light bulbs! Not too evil, but not wishy-washy. And I didn't even see or know about the episode "Clash Reunion" till only three or four years ago, but what a great origin story! He also just has the best series exposure of all the villains with, I think, the most episodes and a status as Darkwing's oldest antagonist and arch nemesis. And I love popping into this dimension and giving him noogies.
Hi, Megs! Love ya!

Electra: *dreamy look briefly crosses her face as The Lauderdale talks about Megavolt, then she shakes her head and continues* How'd you come up with the names for your fics?

The Lauderdale: Ugh. Sheer desperation: I am not a good titles person. My first fanfic, with the wonderfully creative title of "The Voice", demonstrates this. Second title, "Branching Out", was taken from something The Voice says in the fanfic in question and would be a much more brilliant title for a Bushroot story. "Night At The Opera" I stole without knowing from the Marx Brothers movie of the same name. Felt really lame when I found out, but not enough to change it. I think the only title I really like is "Red Duck", but that's just a rather obvious joke on "Red Dwarf", which that particular story parodies. *whimpers* Let's not talk about titles anymore, it's too depressing.

Electra: *smiles sympathetically* They are a bit of a pain...

Zippy: *giggles* I loved "Red Duck".

Aurora: *changes the subject* Do you have any fanfics planned for the future?

Zippy: *pipes up enthusiastically* Can you give us any spoilers?

The Lauderdale: My next fanfic will hand over The Voice's life story, her origin if you will, on a silver platter. It will be the last in a tetralogy. After that, I'm hoping The Voice will have been pretty much established in the DW universe. Other fanfics may have her in them and will sometimes center on her…and much of the time not. They will, in the style of the original series, not be sequential. She'll just be another villain Darkwing happens to fight. But she'll have a neat brother. *grins* I like Joshua. And no, he's nothing like mine.
Tons more fanfic planned, but that's all you're getting out of me. 8)

Zippy: *giggles* How'd you think up that hilarious M.I.D. (Megavolt In Drag) series? We loved it!

The Lauderdale: Thanks! Well, obviously because our boy looks good in drag! I think I would have done it anyway, but there was a precedent in the series, in that episode where he teamed up with QJ and wore that cute pink dress. What a lark!

Zippy: *giggles and nods in agreement*

The Lauderdale: There will be more pics eventually in the MID series--where would we be without Bavarian Milk Maid and Southern Belle? The options are as limitless as women's fashions. And would you believe I hate clothes shopping and wearing dresses and skirts and stuff? What I wouldn't give to just slob around in The Voice's clothes everyday, RL. Fact is I practically do.

Electra: *grimaces* Don't complain about clothes until you've worn a rubber jumpsuit.

Aurora chuckles and Zippy giggles.

Zippy: *cheerfully* And now, to make up for the humiliation you've put up with, you get to ask each of us a question. Any question at all, no matter how embarrassing, we'll answer it.

Electra: *rolls her eyes* How'd I let you talk me into this part?

The Lauderdale: Electra? This is must be a tedious question since it's so obvious (I know it always annoys The Voice) but what exactly is or will be you and Megavolt's relationship?

Electra: *turns bright red and mutters to Zippy* Remind me to kill you later. *to The Lauderdale* Well, um...well...I know I've got a crush on him--

Zippy: *interrupts her enthusiastically* She's madly in love with him! *giggles hysterically*

Electra: *flicks Zippy in annoyance* My question. Shut up. *clears her throat* Okay. Yes. I've had a crush on him since I started going to his old school. *smiles a bit dreamily* It's just so fascinating how he's able to store and control electricity like that...Not to mention how cute he is...*trails off, she's gone*

Zippy: *looks at Electra for a moment, then shrugs* I don't think you're gonna get much else outta her. *grins* But I do know she's planning to write a fic--

Electra: *snaps out of her trance long enough to zap Zippy*

The Lauderdale: Doctor Aurora Boreales? Do you like truffles?

Aurora: *smiles* Yes, but I'm allergic to them.

The Lauderdale: Zippy? What would you say if I said I had incriminating pictures of you and Gyro Gearloose's friend "L'il Bulb" under the mistletoe--in the middle of July?!!

Zippy: *eyes widen* That wasn't me and you can't prove it! *climbs up to where she assumes the Voice's ear is* How much would it take for those pictures to, say...disappear?

Aurora: *glances at her watches and picks Zippy up off of the Voice's shoulder* I'm afraid we're out of time now. Thank you, Lauderdale, you've been an excellent interviewee. *plunks Zippy down on top of The Desk*

Zippy: *frown suspiciously at the Voice for a moment longer before smiling cheerfully* Yep! Thanks for putting up with us! *turns to look at Electra and Aurora* Well, guys, what have we learned today?

Electra: *frowns* I thought we weren't going to end it like thi--

Aurora: *whispering to Electra* Just humor her.

Electra: *rolls her eyes* I've learned that Zippy can talk me into anything.

Aurora: *smiles in amusement* I've learned that Zippy can talk Electra into anything.

Zippy: *oblivious* And I've learned that I can talk Electra into anything. I'm Zippy.

Electra: *flatly* I'm Electra.

Aurora: *still very amused* I'm Aurora.

Zippy: *grinning* And we are:

All three in unison: The High Voltage Studios Interview Team!

Electra: *flatly* You stole that ending, Zippy.

Zippy: *shrugs* Whatever. *excited* Let's roll!

Electra rolls her eyes again and begins dragging The Desk (with Zippy on it) out of the lighthouse, closely followed by Aurora. A few moments pass before the Lauderdale freezes and a strange look crosses her face.

The Voice:...the heck?!

And now we return you to your life, already in progress.
