Dean Cain

He was born at Southridge Air Force Base, on July 31, 1966. His parents Sharon Thomas and Roger Tanaka got divorced before he was born. When he was 3, he moved to Hollywood with his mother and older brother. Then when he became 5, he moved to Malibu, California. His mom met Christopher Cain, and they got married having a daughter, Krisinda Cain.

There he attended Santa Monica High School, and graduated in 1984. He was offered 17 athletic scholarships, all of which he turned down in favor of Princeton University.

At the ivy league school Dean majored in history, captained the volleyball team, and of course, excelled as a free safety on the football team. His NCAA record for most interceptions in a single season (12) stands today.
He was also the captain of Princeton's volleyball team.

He graduated from Princeton in 1988 with a BA in history, then signed up with the Buffulo Bills pro-football team as a free safety. Unfortunally, he got a knee injury in mini-camp during pre-season. He stayed off of it for a while, but when he came back he took  a hit on it. He had to have surgery on it and retired that year.

Dean had sharpened his writing skills at Princeton, and soon found he had both a gift for and a fascination with screen writing. Coached by his father, director Christopher Cain, Dean wrote screenplays for many companies, including an untitled project for Hollywood Pictures.

In the meantime, Dean starting doing commercials and filmed 35 of them in four years, the first of which was a Brut cologne commercial, where he was driving in a convertible in the middle of the desert and stopped the car, deciding to put on some Brut and as he did, there was a mirage of women heading his direction. That led to guest starring roles on numerous television series, including "Beverly Hills, 90210," "Life Goes On," "A Different World" and "Grapevine." An accomplished writer as well as an actor, Dean is actively pursuing both careers. In addition to working on a number of feature-film scripts, Dean wrote, directed and produced the ABC special, "Off Camera With Dean Cain," and has written two episodes of Lois & Clark: Virtually Destroted & Seasons Greetings.

Dean has a development deal with Columbia TriStar TV and formed his own production company, Angry Dragon Entertainment, with partner Mike Carr.  The company's first series, a revamped version of "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" which Dean also hosts, premiered on the TBS Superstation in January to record-breaking ratings.

In what little spare time he has, Dean plays sports and promotes the value of education. He was once invited by House Speaker Tom Foley and Minority Leader Bob Michel to be the featured guest speaker on behalf the prestigious Congressional Arts Caucus in Washington, D.C. Dean addressed hundreds of students and members of Congress on the importance of art and education. While in Washington, Dean also met with President Clinton in the Oval Office.

Dean first fell in love when he was 14.
Dean keeps his clothes in order by season, and all his hangers are the same colour ;)

Dean lives in Malibu with his three dogs, Bosco, Jay & Mocha; two labs and a weimaraner. He had a child with Samatha Torres, and is going to be a father. "I don't plan on settling down with her, we plan on raising the baby as friends," said Dean.
