Ada Nicodemou

Taurus Ada was born in Auburn, Sydney on May 14, 1977, and she went to Sarah Redfern High School in Minto. Because she wanted to be famous and successful, she got into the entertainment industry at an early age, starting at the Johnny Young Talent School where she danced, acted and, although she reckons she's got a terrible singing voice, sang, for five years. At twelve, Ada joined Kids Unlimited, a show group that toured throughout New South Wales. After four years, she decided it was time to spread her wings and almost immediately she got the role of Katerina on Heartbreak High. According to Ada she practically grew up there, starting when she was 16 years old. She appeared in the series for three years, and because of her background in dance, Ada was able to introduce it into Katerina's life as well, and it was because of her passion for dance that she ended up leaving Hartley High.

Ada also appeared in a season of ABC TV's drama series Police Rescue, where she played Anastasia Skouras, the squad's receptionist, and on several other Australian television shows including Blue Heelers.

When she isn't working, Ada still loves to dance and keep fit by doing her fave sport, gym, or chilling out, going to the movies, eating, taking a walk, watching television and just hanging out with friends; most of them are not in the acting business. Her favourite food is pasta. Ada's all time idol is Michael Jackson, and her first paying job was KFC. Her pet likes are cuddles, but she doesn't like animals and feet. Ada wants to be remembered being a hard worker.

Ada played in television series Breakers in 1999. She seems set for the big time, but she's kept her feet firmly on the ground. Although the acting business can be quite surreal sometimes, her family keeps her grounded. Her mum makes sure she knows it's only a job and it could end tomorrow. Ada just enjoys it for what it is, and doesn't take it too seriously. She takes each day as it comes, and realises the soap she's in could end and she may not work for three years. In fact, she doesn't even know if she will keep acting!

Her ultimate acting role however would be besides Hollywood greats such as Al Pacino or Robert De Niro, because she really admires what they do on the screen. She likes the truth they bring to every character they play and reckons they don't look like they're acting.

Ada's pretty shy and likes her privacy, so when she started getting recognised, for the first month she didn't deal with it well. But now she's learned to handle it.

Her latest project is a small part in science fiction hit movie The Matrix, which was filmed in Sydney; she is to spot in the beginning of the movie as DuJour, an exotic girl with a rabbit on her shoulder. She found it lots of fun but she thought when she got the role she would have been a lot more excited than she was. But don't get her wrong, she was thrilled to have got the part. Ada does a scene with Keanu and admits to being excited as she arrived on set. She had never done a movie before and just to see all of the cameras that were being used and the number of behind-the-scenes people was amazing. Then she saw Keanu and she thought, wow, I'm actually doing this! The one thing that amazed Ada was how much smaller Keanu is in the flesh. She hates it when people say that sort of thing about her, but it's just that she really did think he would be a lot bigger than he was! After she did the scene with him, Ada says he thanked her for her time and wished her all the best. Ada says he's not really her type, knowing she is the envy of millions of women worldwide, but he just seemed really down-to-earth. He knew his lines very well, he was very friendly, very professional and fun to work with and not pretentious at all. Ada would love to do more movie roles.
