Rebecca Smart
The actress who plays smartie Melanie Black in Heartbreak, was born 1977 in Tamworth, a town in New South Wales, Australia. Her starsign is Aquarius. She went to St Catherine Girls School in Waverley, NSW. Rebecca first acted at eight in the Coca Cola Kid in 1985; she played DMZ; so she didn't really have a chance to choose what she wanted to grow up to be: she became an actress, like her all time idol Jodie Foster, and she already has many acting credits to her name: in 1985 she played a little girl in The Empty Beach, then in 1987 she appeared in Echoes of Paradise, aka Shadows of the Peacock, as Tessa; in G.P. as Caz Koffel in 1988, and in that same year in Celia: Child of Terror as Celia Carmichael; she played Buster in television mini series The Shiralee, aka Macaulay's Daughter, also in 1988, and Cherry in More Winners: Mr Edmund in 1990. Further she played in the television series Eggshells in 1991, appeared in Clowning Around as Linda Crealy in 1992, as Lynne in Say a Little Prayer in 1993, in Violet's Visit in 1995, and then in Heartbreak High.
After that Rebecca played Lizzie in Doom Runners and Cherie in Blackrock, both in 1997. Her most recent acting job was playing Rebecca in Tom's Funeral in 1999.
She also appeared in several international films.
Rebecca's favourite foods are stir fry and ice cream cake, separately of course. Her favourite sport is swimming among other things because she really likes water. Even though, as she says, she's really uncoordinated, other things she likes are dancing, laughing and short spurts of running.
Her character Melanie's best friend Anita, is her friend in real life aswell: Rebecca says her favourite pastimes are going to the movies with fellow Heartbreak High actress Lara Cox, driving, going to the beach and playing with her dog.
She dislikes having her photo taken, the smell of cigarettes and hard-core techno music. Rebecca wants to be remembered as fondly as possible.
