Mouthing Off premiered in 1997 on Foxtel's home of comedy thecomedychannel. It is shown each Tuesday night at 8:30pm (ESST) and can also been seen every Saturday night at 8:30pm (ESST). It can also be seen at other times but check the Foxtel guide.

You may recongise the name or the face, he was the guitarist of the now defunct
Doug Anthony Alllstars. Since there break up in 1995 Richard has ( to my knowledge) done the following things :

** Hosted the ABC's Race Around the World. The series preimered in 1997 and he is meant to be hosting it in 1998.

** Been involved with the writing of Real Wild Child CD-Rom on the history of Australian Rock, he recently won an award for his work.

** Appeared on Good News Week, twice during the regular season and on the special Good News Eve special, that aired on New Years Eve 1997. During this he sung with his old partern in crime from the Doug Anthony Allstar and host of the show , Paul McDermott.

** Writing a regular net rant coloum in the magazine the Internet.au called Mr Nice Guy.

Mouthing Off is a turn-on

One of thecomedychannel's most successful initiatives has been 'Mouthing Off', the debating show hosted by Richard Fidler (8:30 pm Tuesdays). Fidler and four guests sit around on stools and discuss contentious topics ranging from "Being a poof is no fun any more" to foreign policy. The show is now in it's thrid year and Fidler begins shooting the fourth season this week.
Fidler, who also hosts the ABC's 'Race Around The World' and used to be the Doug Anthony Allstars guitarist, considers that 'Mouthing Off' has lasted because it is extremely cheap to make and there is no censorship. "The idea is to appropriate the demagoguing style of the shock jock, but we do a lot of research and talk about things in depth. I can't stand shows which discuss issues in a dumb way."
Comedians such as Adam Spencer, Wil Anderson and Sue-Anne Post appear on 'Mouthing Off', but in conjunction with political, economic, religious and scientific heavyweights. Fidler says that the fourth series will emphasise biotechnology and bioethics. "There are new breakthroughs all the time; genetic manipulation of humans could well become commonplace in 15 years." Topics for the next series of 'Mouthing Off' include Islam, What Are We Going To Do With Nana ?, and The Men's Movement: Is Just A Bunch of Wankers getting Nude ?

"Biggest Mouths"

Watch and laugh as a bunch of actors and comedians are thrown together by Richard Fidler to battle out their views on fame and stardom. Tonight's line up includes Lex Marinos, Lucy Nell, Simon Burke and Rowena Wallace.

In the December 1997 Foxtel Magazine Mouthing Off was described as:
