Peter Fong: Another loveserie
from TVB. One of a million formula. Lam Ka Tung is a the main character, a rough man with
a warm heart. After his wife went away with someone else, he took care of his 5-years old
kid. Because he never had a good education, he couldn't find a decent job. But one day he
meets Yeun Kit Ying. Due to some misunderstanding they had an arguement, but of course
they're meant for eachother and the god of fate made them colleagues of eachother, estate
sales agent. (he saved the life of the broker's company president, who happens to be the
father of Yeun Kit Ying). I know, I know, the formula has been used a lot of time. How could it then be that I still enjoyed watching it? I really don't know. It's just a very funny serie and I simply love Yeun Kit Ying ^_^Don't miss this one, it has the same quality as A Road And A Will, you won't be able to enjoy this often. Sanney: I definitely know why I like this series -- Fennie Yuen Kit-Ying. She brings an energy and a charm to this series that carries it through it's slow moments. While the series is formulaic in a way, it approaches the formula with a bit of a fresh perspective. For example, Kwan Ga-Yun (played by Lam Ga-Tong) doesn't become a total jerk after he becomes rich or lose all his money only to regain it again.Three things about the series that I didn't like Kwan Bo-Wai's character (Lau Yun-Yee), the court case, and the heavy-handed and awkward lesson about real estate speculation near the end. First, Kwan Bo-Wai's character was supposed to be funny like her mother-in-law; however, unlike her mother-in-law, Kwan Bo-Wai's character seemed like a greedy and cheap "baat po" for the entire series. At least you knew that the mother-in-law loved her son (played by Lau Yiu-Cheung). Second, let's just say that I doubt a judge in any country would decide a case the way the judge did in this series -- it would have been more believable had the judge been bribed. Last, yes, yes, yes, we all know that real estate speculation is risky and that you should only do it if you can afford to lose the money. The theme song sung by Joyce Lee Lok-Si is a cute little catchy tune. Lam Ka-Tong does a good job playing Kwan Ga-Yun, though at times he seems like he is impersonating Chow Yun-Fat. Ho Bo-Sun is effective playing a guy who you just love to hate. Ha Ping turns in a funny performance as Ga-Yun's mother. The mother-in-law with her bits of English ("bloody fool") is hilarious. If you like romantic comedy type series, then this one is worth watching. |
