This Hoshi No Kinka
BOOK belonged to Shuichi.
Hoshi No Kinka is a Grimm fairytale about an orphan girl who gave up her
belongings to ease the sufferings of people she met. In the end after she
gave up everything she has, stars fell from the sky and became gold coins.
She lived happily after. In this drama, this story was repeated by Shuichi
over and over again. The orphan girl symbolizes Aya in this drama, as she
gave up many things (including her happiness) for people around her.
Whether Aya was rewarded in the end or not is for you to say. Shuichi knew
that this book from his past was important to him even though he has lost his
memory.
This BUTTON was torn off from Shuichi's
doctor's coat in Hokkaido. Aya took it with her to Tokyo when she embarked
her search for Shuichi. When her purse was robbed in episode 2, she was
very sad as the button was kept in her wallet. In Japanese
tradition, if a girl gets the second button from the clothes of the man she
loves, the heart of the man will also be with her. In the last episode, Aya
returned this button to Shuichi, indicating that she was giving him back his
heart, allowing him to be together with Shoko.
The pair of
EARRINGS was a gift from Shuichi to
Aya. Shuichi bought the earring when he sneaked out of the hospital with
Aya in episode 3. Aya initially thought that the gift was from Shuichi to
Shoko, hence she was very touched when she received the earring. In
episode 7, when she decided to leave Tokyo, she also wore the earring. To
her, it was perhaps the best gift she has ever received from Shuichi. The
earring was star-shaped, which is suits to the drama - "hoshi" means
"stars" in Japanese.
The SWING from Mihorobetsu Clinic in Hokkaido
was a present from Morioka (Aya's foster father) when Aya was 5 years old.
Aya was abandoned by her natural parents and she sat on the swing to wait for
her parents, who never appeared since then. In episode 1, Shuichi told Aya
the story of Hoshi No Kinka on the swing for the first time. In the last
episode, Takaumi also told the same story to Aya while she was sitting on the
swing.
On the left is
Mihorobetsu CLINIC in Hokkaido,
where Morioka raised Aya after she was abandoned by her parents. In this
clinic, Shuichi and Aya worked together was a team, helping patients in the
village.
The Tokyo TV TOWER (on the right) was where Shuichi
has arranged to meet with Aya after he regained his memory. However,
because of Shoko's attempted suicide, Shuichi did not turn up for the
appointment.
