My Thoughts

Hitotsu Yane no Shita, was a drama telecasted in Japan
in 1993 which was so successful that a second series was made in
1997.
If differs from many other Japanese dramas as it explores family ties and the relationship between siblings. The first series was indeed heartwarming, especially Tatsuya, the eldest brother (played by Yousuke Eguchi) who brought many laughter by his ways of bringing his family together. Of course there were tears, when even the slightest thing could tear the family apart.

I like the show for its hilarious, yet touching plot. Not many families nowadays can live in such "amicable" peace. And I do find Tatsuya funny, who could be quite stubborn at times when he felt that certain things should be done his way.
But I must say I prefer the second series to this one, though it was this series that really started everything......
