Muhlenberg County "Home of the Legends"

Merle Travis, Mose Rager , Kennedy Jones, and Ike Everly are considered the four legends of the Muhlenberg county thumb style of guitar picking, which is also called Travis Picking. This is a page about them, and all of the others who created this style of music, which has been carried all over the world.

There are countless others, and all have did their own part to carry the music from the coal fields of Western Kentucky to the far corners of the world. They all deserve proper credit, and these pages will continue to grow as they can be added. But for now this page is dedicated to THE FOUR LEGENDS Jonesy, Mose, Ike, and Merle.
