Cross-Country Skiing - Ski from the cabin right to all sorts of trails. For those looking for a shorter ski (60 minutes), snowmobile tracks and the roads will get you around the subdivision. A great trip is to either ski or drive down to the Regional Park to utilize the trails there. You could spend a few hours or the whole day using those trails. For the expert, local residents have put together 80 km. that are accessible from the entrance of the subdivision. If you are looking for that experience let me know and I will make sure you have maps.

Snowmobiling - Using the cabin as a base for a snowmobiling holiday is a great experience! There are all sorts of open fields and deep bowls in the area. There are very few farmhouses so it does not seem to be a problem to go out into the fields. There is a municipal road (closed to car traffic in the winter) that leads to Turtle Lake that is about 30-km. return. Basically, it's start your engines, go and enjoy. Some friends, avid snowmobilers who usually travel to the mountains, come out every year to sled and say that they love it at Brightsand. You will too!

Ice Fishing - There are fish to be caught at Brightsand in the winter. The most popular spot is close to the regional park. There you will see a few huts where the regulars set up for the winter. Although the usual catch is smaller pike, some monsters are caught every winter. Whitefish are also around although less common than jack. Good luck!

Tobogganing - You can find some decent tobogganing hills for the children right along the north-south road between the Regional Park and the cabin. I used them for years when my children were younger.
|
Relaxation - How about just watching the fire, making some popcorn, and using the VCR? Another option is to listen to your favorite CD while sipping a hot chocolate. A good read is always better at the lake.
