      About the origin of  Natal (Christmas" )  somebody says that its name was originated from its discovery by a Portuguese man called Mascarenhas Homem who got there into a river that cross it known as Potengi river, at December 25, 1597. Another says this name was originated from a mass hold there on Christmas night of 1599. So, Natal is commemorating its 400 years this year of 1999.Everywhere in Natal had  this slogan"Natal 400 anos"   ( Natal  400 years) .
