We got in from the ferrry at 6:00 in the morning and we then loaded another
ferry that would leave at 7:30 to go to Port Hardy which was the northern
point of Vancouver Island. We would be on the boat all day and arrive
around 11:00 tonight.
It was a nice day, clear with overcast only a couple times but it was
in th 70’s most of the time. A lot of people would get suntans today. The scenery
was nice as we saw some porporsus and
old canneries along the way as well as scenery that is hard to see these days.
We went past islands that look like they had never been touched
and all trees were still standing with no cutting. where small water falls would come down into the ocean. We would also see
tug boats with large barges of vehicles on them being transported with a car
or truck sitting on top of one of the carge boxes that was being hauled by the
tug boat. At about midway point we went past Bella Bella.
This is a secluded town on a small island, see limk. The ferry ride was nice but I would
not pay the price to do it again with a vehicle, it cost a total of $465.
It was nice to do it once as I read a whole book and it was one of the few times
where I had nothing else to do but relax since I wasn’t going anywhere
until I got off the boat that night. We saw a couple whales as we were
on our way to Port Hardy. There were three of them swimming north, the opposite
direction as the ferry. We arrived in Port Hardy at 11:15 and stayed at the
Thunderbird where we had reservations. No driving today.
