In the north coast you'll find , SAN JUAN.
Our capital city, as any other major metropolitan areas in the world, its
the center of all activities, government, business, religion, etc. In what
its called "The Golden Mile" you'll find a branch of every major bank in
the US and the world. You will also be able to find all major corporations
offices within this area, our equivalent to "Wall Street".
Our main airport its located 15 minutes away
from this area. The "Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport"
the Caribbean's busiest airport, is the main hub of major airlines like
Delta, American Airlines, USAir, Continental, Lufthansa, Air France, Air
Canada, British Airways and many others.
For tourists flying from the Continental
US, passport is not necessary, since Puerto Rico is an american territory.
No change of currency needed, we use US currency and services like ATM'S
are very easy to find. Like anywhere else, avoid using ATM'S on poorly
illuminated areas.
Shopping is one of our main attractions, you
can find shopping malls all over the place. The largest shopping center
in the caribbean, "Plaza Las Americas" with over 400 stores among its tenants
you'll be able to see largest Sears and J.C.Penney's retail stores in the
chain... in the world for that matter! In Puerto Rico you'll find every
major US stores like K-Mart and Wal*Mart, The Gap, Disney Store, Western
Auto, Pep Boys among others.
Fast food outlets like Mc Donald's, Burger
King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, etc. can also be easily found.
For serious or formal dinner experience there's
also lots of places to indulge your gourmet needs: Tony Roma's, Lotus Flower,
La Rotiserrie, El Zipperle, among others.
If your interested in history you cant miss
the spanish fortifications, El Morro and San Cristobal, located in Old
San Juan, the old city is the perfect example of spanish architecture.
Actually, "La Fortaleza" (the
governor's house) is the oldest of its kind still in use in the "New World".
