Chiclayo is very historic, here very important pre-columbian cultures were established like the Mochica and the Chimu, very well known for their famous and artistic works of gold and silver. Also the Sipan area is located here, where very important archeologic rests of a pre-columbian cementery have been found. Chiclayo has a population of about 500,000 habitants.
