The Gallowglass Arms Ball

featuring Cherish, Eleanore, Higgins, Kalika and Sundance

Eleanore

You see a young woman in her late teens or early twenties. Her body is slender, almost painfully so, her height just below average, and her movements languorous, almost cat-like. Her long, slightly wavy brown hair, full of golden-red highlights, hangs loosely down her back. Her vibrant green eyes shine brightly in excitement and her small lips are curved in an impish grin.

She wears a sleeveless black dress made of soft velvet, the neckline low enough to display cleavage. A matching black choker is tied about her neck while a pair of matching black gloves adorn her arms, a single silver bracelet fitting snugly about her left wrist. A pair of black high heels peek out from beneath the dress. Finally, lest the evening turn chilly, a beautiful hand-made shawl of black wool is draped loosely over her shoulders.

Kalika

You see a petite young woman, perhaps 17 years of age, with a trim athletic figure. Her dark black bobbed hair peeks out beneath a cloche hat, grey in colour with a black ribbon fastened about it. Her eyes, a vibrant green colour, are bright and observant although her skin colour is slightly pale. A slight smile, as though she finds everything amusing, makes her seem confident - to say the least.

She wears a fringed slip dress, soft pastel green in colour, which falls to just above her knees. A long pearl necklace nearly reaches her waist while several silver bracelets adorn her bare arms. She holds a large ornamental feather, probably decoration, in one hand. Finally, a long black silk scarf is tied loosely about her neck.

-Sundance, in formal dress-

Quite a tall man stands before you, reaching perhaps 6'2. However, he isn't particularly bulky, appearing more wiry, and perhaps quick, rather than appearing overly physically massive. Indeed, you'd guess that he's quite light. This isn't to say he appears small enough to give one the impression of weakness, it's just that he has more of a tall, thin look rather than the stocky powerhouse.

His dress is quite neat, in the sense that a lot of care has been placed into assuring that he looks absolutely prime, so to speak, for this occasion. He wears a normalish suit, yet, his (what most would consider), handsomeish figure seems to give it a certian quality.

The suit itself is composed of grey dress pants, along with a white dress shirt. Rather than a tie, however, he wears what appears to be a handcrafted bolo. Nothing particularly special, yet, it looks decent, which is probably, in his mind, the main thing.

Upon his feet, he wears dress shoes, something that's probably uncommon for him, him being used to wearing boots. Nonetheless, the shoes are black, as one might expect, and shined, yet not overly shiny. His general appearance is of one who wants to look nice, yet doesn't wish to stick out in the crowd.

Beyond his clothes, his face is rather catching. Young looking, yet, somehow carrying the look of experience, as though he has seen and done it all. A look that is matched within the intelligent, glinting ice-blue of his eyes. His smile, however, is charming, seeming fairly radiant on his freshly shaved face. All in all, he seems clean cut, and good looking, his sandy colored hair neatly combed. Quite a difference from the jeans, shirt, and cowboy hat that he is so known to wear.

Room 403 - GA

This small room is well-kept. Although the floor is bare, ivory-painted walls brighten the room up. A single bed made up with a warm comforter, sky blue in colour, is situated in the centre of the room. A wooden dresser resides next to the bed. The window, overlooking the street below, is closed.

Holding a parcel to her chest, Kalika smiles shyly at you, yes, shyly. A little odd considering she is usually so confident. Regardless, she slips into the bathroom to prepare, leaving you to do the same in the bedroom, itself.

After no short amount of time, Kalika steps out of the bathroom - ready at last, you hope.

Sundance is already dressed, sitting on the foot of the bed, and looking at his watch impaitently. He shakes his head. "Wahmen.." he murmurs. "Jaysus...Daddy alwahs sah'd yeh'd get gray 'air waitin' fer a wahmn ta dress.." he half smiles to himself though, and suddenly looks up as Kalika walks out. Immediatly rising, he holds out his arm to her. "Ah...there yeh ar.." he says, smiling. "Ah thah't yeh dah'd in there, er sumpthin." He pauses, regarding her. "'n yeh look beautif'ul, ahs ahlways.."

Bright green eyes meeting your own ice-blue ones, she smiles, regarding you in a slow languorous fashion. "I hope I did not keep you waiting too long?" she asks, voice scarcely above a whisper. "You look handsome yourself" she adds, after a slight pause, taking the proffered arm.

Sundance smiles. He laughs, softly. "Ah only got 'bout fahve er six gray 'airs, waitin'.. " he says, but his voice is quite teasing. "Now, yeh'r gohnna alfta tahll me where were goin'. Ah don' know where tha' plahce is.." He then grins, almost wickedly. "Are yeh hintin' ah don't ahlways look 'andsome, eh?"

Kalika returns the grin, feeling slightly mischievous herself, "Of course not, lover" she says reaching up to chastely kiss your mouth. "The room is just downstairs."

Sundance, in his own little way, mmphs softly as he's kissed, briefly brushing his lips against Kalika's, before he draws away, head nodding quietly. "Ahlraht.." he murmurs, though, he glances back towards the rack he's left his gunbelt, and hat on. "Ah'm gohnna sah raht now, ah feel fraggin' nekkid withaht mah gun, y'know.."

Kalika cannot help but laugh at Sundance's declaration "Naked? Oh, Sundance . . " She smiles softly, with more than a hint of affection, up at him and leads him out.

4th Floor Hallway - GA

A long hallway, much like the one below, but with different details. White-painted walls are adorned with paintings, one or two of artistic value, the rest of them not. The tile floor covering is in fairly good shape although several chipped pieces mar the pattern. Overhead, a faintly buzzing fluorescent lightbulb shines rather harshly.

Sundance follows along, giving Kalika an almost strange look. "Wahll?" he asks. "If'm yeh didn' ah'v any ah yer pahwers, ow would yeh feel?" Despite this question, he follows along briskly. "Whar 'xactly is it? Cahlse ta where ah took yeh ta eat, ah sahpose.."

Kalika gently leads Sundance down the stairs, fairly quiet aside from a "Just you hush for now."

3rd Floor Hallway - GA

A long hallway, much like the one below, but with different details. White-painted walls are adorned with paintings, a few of artistic value, the rest of them not. The tile floor covering is in fairly good shape although a chipped piece here and there mars the pattern. Overhead, a faintly buzzing fluorescent lightbulb shines rather harshly.

Sundance glances at Kalika for just a moment, but, he shrugs, mostly to himself, following along.

Gallowglass Arms - Lobby

A comfortable lobby greets your eyes. The tiled floor, while worn in spots, is still glossy and pleasing to the eye. Several over-stuffed setees line the walls on either side of the front door. Small tables next to them hold beautifully painted vases. Opposite the front door is a marble counter behind which a clerk is busy going over accounts and sorting mail into the pigeon holes on the wall behind him. A key rack, hanging below the pigeon holes, contains several keys. Wall sconces, containing unlit candles, adorn the walls along with pictures of the world as it used to be. The room is bathed with the light from several inset ceiling fixtures, the brightest of which is above a standing suit of armor. The general feeling in this room is one of peace, totally at odds with the world outside the doors. An archway leads to a hallway and an elegant circular staircase slowly winds its way down to the floor below.

Higgins nods to the couple, a slight scowl upon his face. "Going to the Ball?" he asks, looking up from his work.

Sundance doesn't speak, only simply nods, giving Kalika a look, as though he expected her to do any talking required here.

Kalika nods, looking slightly disdainful as she does so, and proceeds to lead the way.

Ballroom

Catching your eye when you enter into this spacious room is the large marble fountain located at its exact centre. Made of rose marble with black and grey veins running through it, it is three tiered with the statue of a beautiful woman at its top. Water spills slowly over the levels, causing minimal splashing. Seats carved into the base of the fountain provide a good, if somewhat chilly, view to the dancing. Directly above the fountain is an enormous crystal chandelier holding dozens of lit candles. The glow from the candles is warm and bright, causing the water to sparkle and seemingly dance to the music. A highly polished and waxed hardwood floor is beneath your feet, its colour absorbing some of the warmth of the candles and causing it to glow. Tables and chairs line the walls, inviting those not dancing to sit and watch. Soft music drifts on the air, causing bodies to sway and tensions to relax. People all around are talking and laughing; couples whisper to each other in hushed tones.

Cherish smiles at Kalika and says "Hello. Welcome to the Gallowglass Arms Ballroom. I'll be your waitress tonight so just flag me down if you need anything."

Cherish catches Sundance's glance and winks at him.

Eleanore leaves her seat at the bar to walk toward Kalika and Sundance, a warm smile upon her face as she does so despite the fact that she is nervously fiddling with her shawl.

Sundance walks in calmly with Kali on his arm, nodding towards Eleanore with a plesant smile upon his face. His hand lifts slightly -- his natural reaction to touch the brim of his hat in greeting -- then it seems, he realizes he isn't wearing a hat, for he lowers the hand, settling for a quiet. "Ow'dy, m'am."

Kalika regards her mother with no small amount of affection and, perhaps, with even a touch of concern. "You look beautiful" she says.

Eleanore smiles, first at Sundance, and then at Kalika, eyeing them both in turn. "As do you both" she says softly. "But I am afraid not many people have arrived yet . . . " Again, she nervously plays with her shawl. "Why don't you two find a seat and enjoy yourselves?" she asks.

Sundance nods. "Ah'm shuret thah'll be 'ere." he murmurs, before nodding at Kalika. "Wah don' yeh fahnd sahmewhere ta sit, 'n ah'll wahnder off 'n see if ah kin fahnd us sumpthin ta drahnk?" he offers.

Kalika nods in reply and, with another warm smile at her mother, makes her way to a table, leaving Sundance to get the food.
