She wears a suit of shiny black leather, the proverbial cat suit. It covers her from head to toe, so to speak, fitting like a second skin, at the same time, drawing attention to her athletic figure. Her bare feet are pale, especially, in contrast to the black of the suit.
Although Kalika is a demon, as is her Father Abdiel, she was born to a human woman, Eleanore. Shortly afterwards, she was taken from her Mother to be raised by Dominus, a nineteenth century nobleman and the archetypal Victorian prude, who was given the gift of immortality in return for his service to Abdiel.
She was presented, when still an infant, to the Hindu Goddess Kali. The result was that Kalika's body acted as an occasional host to the Goddess, bits and pieces of her psyche remaining within Kalika's.
And so she was raised and worshipped as a Goddess from an early age. The two, Dominus and Kalika, lived together in a secluded manor house on the outskirts of a tiny coastal village in northern England. Dominus, a wizened and ugly old man by this time, was strict with Kalika; moreover, he tried to ensure that they had as little to do with the twentieth century as possible, preferring his own century.
To make up for the strictness of Dominus were the occasional visits of Cyrus, a good-looking and charismatic servant of Abdiel. Kalika, simply, adored him. He showered her with both affection and gifts. Unfortunately, he sought to use her for his own ends, although he did care, in his way, for her. At the age of 6 he attempted to take her from Dominus. Kalika watched, hidden, as the two fought and, later, as Cyrus tore apart the manor house searching for her. Afterwards, Dominus began her melee lessons, presenting her with her own dagger and matching sword. A less welcome change was the removal of Kalika to another, hidden, part of the manor house.
Kalika was lonely for a long time afterwards - communication with Kali and meditation her only respite. Indeed, Kalika was often found in a trance-like state and would remain so for hours, even days, while in communication with the Goddess.
Desperately missing the affection that Cyrus had bestowed upon her she sought to make friends with the servants who were close to her own age. She would sit and watch them. One day, she approached a group of them, the loneliness too much for her, sick of watching. They mocked the "Demon Goddess" (Kalika was a constant source of gossip to the villagers) until one of the elder youths, a young teenage boy, decided that, yes, she could become their friend if she proved herself. She was nearly taken advantage of. Fortunately Dominus saved her in time and, from then on, he was a little more affectionate to his young charge.
After learning all she could from Dominus, by now after the End, he sent her to Hell to explore her demon heritage. It was at this point that she became a member of the Spawn, taking Malakith as her mate. However, after a conflict with Draken Slythe, she drifted apart from the Spawn.
It was in Babylon that she met her Mother, Eleanore, since keeping a protective eye upon her. Her Father she regards less affectionately after meeting him.
Later, after the extermination of most of the Spawn, Malakith, weary of living, begged Kalika to end his life. She did but with much regret and spent much time, thereafter, mourning him.
The arrival of Sundance - Kalika's lover - into her life has brought happier times.
Position: A teacher at the University of Babylon
Sundance is already dressed, sitting on the foot of the bed, and looking at his watch impaitently. He shakes his head. "Wahmen.." he murmurs. "Jaysus...Daddy alwahs sah'd yeh'd get gray 'air waitin' fer a wahmn ta dress.." he half smiles to himself though, and suddenly looks up as Kalika walks out. Immediatly rising, he holds out his arm to her. "Ah...there yeh ar.." he says, smiling. "Ah thah't yeh dah'd in there, er sumpthin." He pauses, regarding her. "'n yeh look beautif'ul, ahs ahlways.."
Malaric almost seems hidden amongst the few who stand within the square. His body covered in the raining blood, his expression seeming somewhat bitter with its discomfort. His hair is matted, clumped due to the rain that washes down across his face. His jacket working to otherwise repell much of the warm sticky fluid. He looks skyward for a moment, his eye-lids narrowing against the 'rain'. "Of all things why this? It's almost as annoying as the creation of the mosquito."
Kalika nods after some consideration . . . "You might tell Starsmore of our connection. I have lectured him once or twice."
