Morpheus: At last…Welcome Neo, as you no doubt have guessed, I am Morpheus.
Neo: It's an honor to meet you.
Morpheus: No the honor is mine. Please come sit…I imagine right now you are feeling a bit like Alice, tumbling down the rabbit hole? Hmm?
Neo: You could say that.
Morpheus: I can see it in your eyes. You have the look of a man who accepts what he sees because he's expecting to wake up. Ironically this is not far from the truth. Do you believe in fate Neo?
Neo: No.
Morpheus: Why not?
Neo: Because I don't like the idea I'm not in control of my own life.
Morpheus: I know exactly what you mean. Let me tell you why you are here. You are here cause you know something. What you know you can't explain. But you feel it, you've felt it your whole life. Something is wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It's this feeling that has brought you to me. Do you know what I'm talking about?
Neo: The Matrix?
What is the Matrix? Only those who have awakened, and have seen it from the outside truly know. Everyone else is asleep, blind to the true nature of the reality around them. A reality crafted to control them. A world pulled over their eyes. For most the truth will never truly matter, they will be content to live their lives asleep under the thumbs of their true masters.
But others...like you...want to know the truth. Whether you can handle it or not.
If you're certain, if it's what you really want, you can take the red pill and be reborn in the knowledge of what the Matrix is. If not, then take the blue and stay asleep.
It's your choice...
Welcome to the Matrix, Warner Bros.' blockbuster science fiction movie. A film with an alternate take on the cyberpunk theme, but a welcome one. And an excellent movie.
What is the Matrix: Take everything you know about the Net and VR from Cyberpunk 2020 and throw it away. The Matrix is what VR should be like, and even to a degree netrunning, but isn't. While not perfect this movie comes a lot closer than most sources I've yet encountered.
Technology of The Matrix: If you're going to fight an intractable enemy in the Matrix and in the Real World you are going to need tools.
Who's in The Matrix: Meet the characters of the Movie. No game stats just notes about who they are, cause when all is said and done this about playing your own characters not someone else's.
What you need to know: Some notes about playing a game in The Matrix.
