WALKTHROUGH

This is a complete walkthrough of Final Fantasy Tactics. Actually, it is incomplete at the moment, but it is under construction. Under each title, you will find The mission objective, what enemy units appear in the battle, Squads, maximum people in a squad, a description of the battle, and a difficulty rating from (easiest), to (hardest).

Prologue (Orbonne Monastery)

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: Knight, Chemist, 3 squires

This is a good battle to figure out the gameplay of Final Fantasy Tactics. In this battle, you can only control Ramza, the main character. Basically, the fight is impossible to lose. You have several guests, and they will win the battle for you. Just sit back, relax, and figure it all out. After the battle, the princess is kidnapped. Now the scene changes to the past, and I reccomend that you now save.

Difficulty:

CHAPTER 1

BATTLE 1-1: MAGIC CITY GARILAND

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: Chemist, 4 squires
Squads: 1 squad of 5 people.

This is the first real battle. You will run into thieves and try to stop them. Take down the leader, because he does a lot of damage. Then take down the chemist. From this point, continue eliminating the other squires. If Delita dies, don't worry. It's not a problem. This is an easy battle, so don't worry. After the battle, shop in town, and save your game.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-2: MANDALIA PLAINS

Objective: Defeat all enemies!/Save Algus!
Enemies: 4 Squires, 1 Thief, 1 Red Panther
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

At the start of the battle, you will see Algus being attacked by thieves. You witness this, and can say one of two things. First, you can say "We must save him," which sets the objective to Save Algus! Second, you can say "Our priority is to destroy the Death Corps," which sets the objective to Defeat all enemies! I recommend Defeat all enemies! If you choose to Save Algus, they will try to kill Algus, and make the battle hard. Otherwise, you can defeat all of the enemies without a problem. It is not hard. Now proceed.

Diifficulty:

You may now go straight to Igros Castle. There is no battle. Buy new equipment there, and save as part of your routine. I am not going to remind you to save after every battle. Note: Mandalia plains is now a place where random battles may occur. Be careful! Any area represented by a green dot can be a random battle.

BATTLE 1-3: SWEEGY WOODS

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 2 Goblins, 1 Black Goblin, 2 Bombs, 1 Red Panther
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 people

This is your first set battle containing monsters. Here is the info on each individual monster. The Red Panther and the 2 Goblins you can take out easily. However, the Black Goblin can use turn punch, causing damage to all units standing next to it. Second, The 2 Bombs can each use Self Destruct. This attack will kill the bombs, but cause severe damage to anyone near the bombs. Since both the Black Goblin's Turn punch and the Bomb's Self destruct both have a long range effect, avoid placing units too close to each other. Aside from that, you should be just fine.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-4: SLUMS IN DORTER

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 1 Knight, 2 Wizards, 3 Archers
Squads: 1 squad of 4 people

The difficulty of this battle depends on the jops of your soldiers. If you have squires and chemists, this may be hard. It is of appropriate difficulty if you are using Knights, Archers, Wizards, and Priests. They all do a moderate amount of damage, but if you are well equipped, you can easily win this battle. Take the enemies down in any order you wish.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-5: SAND RAT CELLAR

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 3 Knights, 2 Monks, 1 Archer
Squads: 2 Squads of 2 each

This is the first battle with 2 squads. You start with Delta and Algus. This time, make sure that they both live. When you attack the knight, attack from behind or from the sides. If you attack from the front, there is a low hit %. After the knight, kill the archer, because he can shoot over walls. Then proceed to kill the monks.

Difficulty:

Now return to Igros Castle for a movie, and then go to the Thieve's Fort.

BATTLE 1-6: THIEVE's FORT

Objective: Defeat Miluda!
Enemies: Miluda, 2 Priests, 3 Thieves
Squads: 1 Squad, 4 people

This is the first fight where you have to kill a certain character. In this case, Miluda. Instead of going straight for Miluda, try to kill off the other members of the enemy party first. I recommend taking out the thieves first. This is because they can charm your female fighters. If they happened to be charmed anyway, hit them lightly to fix it. Then take down the priests. After that, Miluda has no defenses. Just be careful of her break techniques.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-7: LENALIA PLATEAU

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemy units: Miluda, 2 Knights, 2 Wizard, 1 Time Mage
Squads: 1 Squad of 5 people

This is an interesting battle. Although Miluda is a special character, killing her will not end the battle. Each of these enemies are near equally difficult. Here is my personal strategy. First, take out the Time Mage. Between Slow and Haste, she is the toughest enemy. After the Time Mage, kill the wizards. This is a tightly packed battle, and the wizards have a tendency to take advantage of the situation. Then kill the Knights because they have a high attack. Finally, kill Miluda. This time she will really die.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-8: WINDMILL SHED

Objective: Defeat Wiegraf
Enemies: Wiegraf (White Knight), 2 Monks, 1 Knight, 1 Chocobo
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

There is not much I can tell you about this fight. Basically, follow the objective. Attack Wiegraf and only Wiegraf. Everybody in this fight can do plenty of damage, particularly Wiegraf. If you attack everybody, this fight will be harder than neccessary. Kill Wiegraf, and you will succeed. That is all.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 1-9: FORT ZEAKDEN

Objective: Defeat Algus!
Enemies: Algus (Knight), 3 Knights, 2 Wizards
Squads: 2 Squads of 2 People Each

This is yet another boss fight. Once again, just kill Algus. There are far too many enemies to take on with four people. Delita charges Algus, and Algus' Knights and Wizards dispose of Delita in a short amount of time. Basically, don't rely on Delita. If neccessary, kill the Wizards. However, move around the knights. The knights have a high Evade %, and are not easily killed. Algus is not as weak as he was when he was part of your party. He uses a crossbow, and can use break techniques with it. In other words, he can break your equipment and weaken you from a long distance. After defeating Algus, you'll proceed to Chapter 2.

Difficulty:

CHAPTER 2

BATTLE 2-1: DORTER TRADE CITY

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 2 Thiefs, 2 Archers, 2 Wizards
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

This is an easy battle. Between Agrias and Gafgarion's sword attacks, the enemies will be eliminated without a problem. Send your men at the wizards, because you tend to end up with people standing next to each other, because this is a narrow battle field. After the wizards, kill the thiefs and archers, and proceed to the next battle.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 2-2: ARAGUAY WOODS

Objective: Defeat all enemies! or Save Chocobo!
Enemies: Black Goblin, 5 Goblins
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

There is not much involved with this fight. You can either choose to destroy all enemies or save the chocobo. The swordspeople will kill the Goblins in a single hit, so start with the Black Goblin. Either scenario, this is a ridiculously easy fight. If you can't beat this fight, all I can say is QUIT NOW!

Difficulty:

Note: You now have a chocobo in your party. It is not great, but if you wait for several game days, it will eventually breed into other chocobos on different levels, or even a Black Chocobo, and finally a Red Chocobo.

BATTLE 2-3: ZIRIKILE FALLS

Objective: Save Princess Ovelia!
Enemies: Gafgarion (Dark Knight), 5 Knights
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

First things first. Before the battle, unequip Gafgarion. This is because he turns on you and tries to kidnap Ovelia. Take all of his equipment off. If he has any armor, he is hard to kill. If he has a sword, he can use his sword magic against you. Now that that's done with, kill Gafgarion first. He is just in the way of your mobility. Aside from that, Agrias and Delita will kill the remainder of the Knights quickly, and you can attack them to make the battle almost too easy. However, as usual, avoid the Knights' Break techniques. Don't worry, the hard battles are coming soon.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 2-4: ZALAND TRADE CITY

Objectives: Defeat all enemies! or Save Mustadio!
Enemies: 2 Knights, 2 Archers, 2 Wizards
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

At the start of the battle, you are presented with 2 options. First, you can choose "We have to save him!" This is definitely the wrong choice. Second, you can choose "I don't want to get involved." If you hadn't figured it out yet, this is the correct choice. This does two things. One, it raises your entire party's brave level by 5 points. Two, Mustadio will die no matter what you do, and this way you can continue the battle anyway. Now you have to send the majority of you characters through the little opening. Due to the minimal fighting space, take the wizards out first. Then take out the archers. In this particular battle, they have unusually strong Charge Abilities. Then take the remaining Knights down. Now you have Mustadio.

BATTLE 2-5: BARIAUS HILL

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 2 Knights, 2 Summoners, 2 Archers
Squads: 1 Squad of 4 People

This is the first battle with summoners. Summoners are perhaps the most dangerous units in final Fantasy Tactics. This is because they use powerful spells that have a large range, and only hit unfriendly units. That means if a summoner casts a spell on one of your people, and there are 5 of your enemies within the spell's range, only your character will be hit. Sounds fun, doesn't it? Make sure you have people that can heal and revive, because the knights and archers have a tendency to finish off units that were already hit by the summon spells. If you haven't figured out the obvious, kill the summoners first! After that, proceed with the knights and archers as usual.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 2-6: ZIGOLIS SWAMP

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 2 Skeletons, 1 Bone Snatch, 1 Ghoul, and 1 Flotiball or Morbol
Squads: 1 Squad of 5 People

This battle is mainly made up of undead enemies. The only exception is the Flotiball or Morbol. This is easy and hard all at once. Kill the Flotiball/Morbol first. Now that the living monster is dead, you can use the same tactics through the rest of the battle. Undead monsters can not be healed by curative magic. In fact, they are hurt by it. You can use healing spells to hurt the undead. With a single heal spell, you can harm the undead more than you can help yourself. Also, an even easier way to dispose of the undead is with a Phoenix Down. Although a Phoenix Down may cost 300 Gil, If you use one on an Undead monster, you can kill the monster in one use, regardless of HP. A Phoenix Down can inflict MAX HP Damage on the undead. However, if you wait three turns as you would for a treasure or crystal with normal monsters, the undead rise again, so eliminate the undead quickly. Also, avoid the Marshes. You can walk through them, but if you stop in a marsh, you will get poisoned. Poisoning, if you have not yet been poisoned, takes away 1/8 of your HP every turn. I think that this is enough for one battle.

Difficulty:

BATTLE 2-7: SLUMS IN GOUG

Objective: Defeat all enemies!
Enemies: 2 Thieves, 2 Archers, 2 Summoners
Squads: 1 Squad of 5 People

This battle starts when you try to leave Goug. This is not a hard fight, but once again, the summoners can attack several units at once. Summoners are very convenient when placed in your party. For more information on summoners, Click Here! If possible, take out the summoners. Then kill the thieves, because they can use the Steal Heart ability. Then proceed to kill the archers. If Mustadio dies, don't worry, he has no equipment or skills, so let him lie there unconcious for the fight.

Difficulty:

Note: Keep Mustadio in your party, but don't use him. He is not good, but if he dies, you have made a terrible mistake. If Mustadio dies, you can not get Cloud, who is a good fighter. For more information on getting Cloud, Click Here!

BATTLE 2-8: BARIAUS VALLEY

Objective: Save Agrias!
Enemies: 2 Knights, 2 Archers, 2 Wizards
Squads: 2 Squads- One of 3 People, One of 2 People

This is a somewhat difficult battle, because Agrias starts very close to the enemy. There are also 2 Squads, separated by a large river. With the first Squad, rush in and kill all enemies. The second squad will probably be done first, so send the second squad over to help. A basic slaughtering mission.
