Here are some tips sent in by Krondor fans that might help others in their adventure around Midkemia
Combat tips from the library at Sarth
-
Trolls take more damage when attacked with magic, arrows and swords do less.
-
Magicians of any order are usually poor in hand-to-hand combat although some are skilled swordsmen.
-
Wyverns take more damage when attacked with swords enhanced with Althafain's Icer.
-
It is generally a good idea to close in on your enemies especially if they are using magic, slings, crossbows, or stones to deny them the advantage of space.
-
If a trap crystal stands between you and your enemies, use the spell 'Invitation' to get them caught in the trap crystals.
Other general combat tips
-
Don't try to avoid a fight if possible. Every fight you get into will build your character's stats and will gain you experience on how to handle future combats.
-
When fighting an enemy group that includes a magician, take out the magician first.
-
If one of your characters is too weak to take more hits (especially Owyn in the early stages or Patrus), surround him with your other characters. This way, he will take less hits from your enemies.
-
In an enemy group that includes archers or anyone with balistics, take them out early.
-
If you can't take out archers early, position your characters in such a way that other enemies are in the line of sight. This way, there will be a bigger probability that the archers will hit their own. This would be an advantage especially if they are using poisoned arrows.
-
Always try to position your magicians at least one step away from your enemies. This will allow them to use their magic. If your enemies are too close, use a powder bag or 'Potio Noxum'.
-
If your characters are too weak, give them space and make them rest or make them drink restoratives (you can do this even during combat).
