Question: My fellow gamers really exclude me from the game
because my character is combat perilous. In addition the game revolves around my
character, so without me there would be no plot. I feel that I do not belong to the
group and if I didn't come nobody would notice. What should I do?
Answer: My suggestion to you is first tell your
GM what you think. Tell him what you like and don't like, and offer some suggestions. In
regards to your character, ask yourself what his/her personality is, could it change over
time, can I roleplay him/her out better and maybe not be so combat perilous, or should I
consider retiring him/her and starting fresh. As for your fellow gamers, they will
probably appreciate you more for taking steps to improving the game for both you and them.
Also as DMs sometimes we have to take a step back from the game and take a look at the
big picture. As a DM you should ask the question: "Am I
including everybody equally in this game, and are they having fun, if not why?" How
can I improve my game?
