History of the Az StRUT Program -

Arizona StRUT, or Students Recycling Used Technology, is a partnership between local schools and businesses where businesses provide the used computer equipment and students learn new skills by refurbishing the equipment. The equipment is then donated to schools and other nonprofit organizations throughout Arizona.

The StRUT program began in 1994 in Oregon when Intel Corporation donated computers to a regional school district for use in classes on repairing computers. Today, the StRUT program distributes computer equipment to 45 schools with refurbishing programs across Oregon. While Intel provides about 40 percent of the computers in the Oregon program, there are more than 150 companies and organizations that have donated computer equipment and supplies.
