Rampage

Based on the popular Bally / Midway arcade coin-op, Rampage was "ported" by Bob Polaro. Bob is nor credited in the manual, but lists the programmer as "Bobco." Rather than trying to be the hero as in most games, Rampage puts you in the role of the bad guy. You can choose to be one of three monsters - George the Ape, Lizzie the Lizard, or Ralph the Wolf. The object is to demolish as many cities as possible. Eat the humans and destroy the enemy planes, boats, and automobiles that try to stop you. Violent, yes. But it’s unique and fun!

Two players can play simultaneously, which is always an added bonus to the fun! You can work together or fight against each other. There’s an energy meter as well. If your energy becomes depleted, you will be transformed back into a human - at which time you can be consumed by your fellow monsters for points and energy. Be sure to eat food (flowers and televisions!) to keep your energy up! Each monster has three lives and a new life is awarded for every 10,000 points.

Bob also programmed Defender, Realsports Volleyball, Desert Falcon, Roadrunner, and Sprintmaster (all by Atari). He also programmed the 2600 prototypes Stunt Cycle, Holey Moley, and Bugs Bunny.

Back in the 1980s, Activision used to give out embroidered game club patches if you got a high score, took a picture of your TV screen, and mailed it to them. However, there was no high score patch awarded for Rampage.
