Most of you chummers are from the UCAS [which was also the name for a 20th century University organisation in England]
and I expect you don't care about a back water town like Enfield.
Well that's a mistake.
See those shotguns you use regularly? What make are they? A fair few of you have probably realised you're using Enfield Shotguns.
Damn right.
You see, we have a munitions factory over here. It ended up disused during the latter 20th C, having served its purpose in the First and Second World wars. But the Enfield council
decided that maybe it could be a nice little source of income for our town.
So it has been funded, and its been in operation since 2021. And the shotguns are the best export.
Drek, even Aztechnology sometimes places an order.
>>>>>[Yeah, right. Anyone else think this moron is a little too fond of his home? What would Aztechnology do with a shit hole like Enfield?]<<<<<

>>>>>[I don't know why, but they do. Maybe it's cause Enfield isn't run by the corps like evrywhere else, and they figure they can use economics to get in.
You know, 'If you want us to keep buying, let us build a factory, and let us get a seat on the council.'
Eventually they practically run Enfield, get in some troops, and then they can, so to speak, take the train to London.]<<<<<

Blakrobe
So why else should you come to Enfield, England, apart from to buy shotguns cheap?
Well, it's quite a good haven. Unlike London, and everywhere else in England, and the world for that matter,
Enfield hasn't been heavily corporised.
We're still very much a town of small businesses, which the corps don't see fit to buy up.
And we have good pubs.
So, maybe not a great place for shadow jobs, but good if you're on the run from Japana corps.
Thing is, japanese assassins stick out here. Not exactly brimming with japanese [or chinese, americans, or russians if you're gonna be picky]
is Enfield.
And there are some Shadow runs available for those of you sighing in disgust.
>>>>>[Yeah, there's a reason the corps don't buy up the businesses round here. There's a Dragon in Enfield
and he don't like the corps much. Noone knows why.]<<<<<

Well, onto the description of places. I bet you all want to know about the hot spots, so we'll get to the pubs later.
Waltham Cross Shopping Precint
This place is dead. It was dead in the 20th C. There are shops there, but when one closes, its not replaced for years.
There isn't much special interest here either.
There's a large store which sells newspaper [yes, we still use paper], choccy, music, and the rest...
There are most of the shops you need for every day stuff, but don't expect any gun shops.
Hard though you might find it to accept, they still don't license guns in England.
'Course, doesn't stop us all buying on the black market.
>>>>>[How the hell does Blakrobe know about the 20th C.? He'd have to be about 70 to know. And if he is, what's he doing with netrunning?]<<<<<

If you want to continue the 'Is Blakrobe a dragon?' conversation, you can do it in another section of my node.
I'm trying to teach you about Enfield, so don't speak up unless you have something USEFUL to say.
Waltham Cross Continued: There aren't any body shops here either.
The only good news is that most of the disused shop space is up for cheap letting. Not exactly a great place to sleep
but if you need to store a lot of equipment, then this is a good place to go. You can also hole up in here if need be.
Be warned though: Security is none too tight.
Enfield Town Shopping Centre:
Not a mall, like you have in America, but a congregation of shops clustered together.
This is where most people go... most of what you want, barring weapons, can be found here.
There's even a legit cyber wear shop... but ONLY legit. The Enfield Council keeps an eye on this place [called 'Cyberwear R us'. Sigh]
and anything which could even be thought of as illegal is banned...
Drek, even Cyberlimbs above a certain strength are forbidden.
And cos of the nasty little depression we have, prices are still quite high. England is one of the few places where Cyberwear users are still one in a thousand...
>>>>>[Hell, that's changed since Blakrobe last wrote something. The depression is nominally ending, and cyberwear is the current fad.]<<<<<

Edmonton Shopping Centre:
Strictly speaking not in Enfield, but it's close enough that we, the locals, virtually view it as part of Enfield...
Not a bad shopping place, but a bit out of the way if you live in Enfield proper...
It has a couple of body shops, and if you have the right contacts, one of the shops (I won't say which) will implant you with the latest in cyberwear.
