Peter assists Earthworm Jim, the worm
in the supersuit, in his frequent adventures. He is therefore given the
humble title: sidekick.
Peter has no real powers, or skills,
except one little one: whenever he is frightened, hurt, or anything similar,
he turns into a grizzly, smelly, drooling, hungry, frightening, and let's
not forget strong, monster. This is not always a positive thing, because
he has on more than one occasion attacked Jim instead of the wicked fiend.
But Jim needs Peter because he's always there for him, his wits are quick
and dependable, and he's the one that usually does the house-work.
If you have not seen a single episode
of EWJ, I recomend that you run out and buy a copy righ this moment, because
you don't know what you're missing!
Anyway... that's all I have to say
about Peter right now, but I'll probally write more some other time, so
ya come back, ya hear?

Background
There's many versions and theories
about Peter's background. Nobody really knows where he came from, why he's
Jim's sidekick, or why he turns into a monster from time to time.
If you have any info about his background,
maybe some versions of your own, then ya can mail them/it to me and I shall
place them/it on this page.

Comic Book
Background
I'm the lucky owner of the EWJ Marvel
comic books, but I only have #1 and #3 (there's only three EWJ comic books),
but in #1 you can find one version of Peter's background. Maybe this is
the "right" background?
Anyway... Jim and Princess What's-Her-Name
was captured by Psy-Crow and Professor Monkey-For-A-Head. Jim was put in
the Professors laboratory, where he managed to escape, but without his
super-suit. He then had to hide in the Professors dungeon, so that Psy-Crow
wouldn't find him. There he met Peter, who was kind enough to help him
hide. Peter was locked up in the dungeon with a bunch of other creatures,
whom the Professor had used for his wicked experiments so they all looked
like hideous freaks... except Peter, that is. Jim wondered why he
wasn't hideous or freakish, and Peter said that the Professor wasn't
finished with his treatment yet. Peter was really unhappy, he even cried
a bit (it shows that Peter has a soft side too). Jim said that he was a
super hero, and that he was going to free them all from the Professor's
dungeon. He then told Peter his story, how he found the super suit, but
Peter didn't believe him (who would?). Jim crawled out (a worm doesn't
really have much problem getting out or in through jail-bars ya know) off
the dungeon, and he was off to defeat the bad guys and get his suit back.
After he had done that, he come back to free Peter and the rest of the
freak-club. Peter was really impressed, you could see it in his eyes. Jim
pulled out his pocket-rocket, or whatever it's called, and said that "adventure
calls". Peter asked if he could join him on his epic quest, because he
owed him something for saving him from the wicked Professor Monkey-For-A-Head.
Jim agreed, and they blasted off to eternity... and maybe beyond? Peter
seemed really happy at the end of the comic, and thus ends #1.
And now for #3... Peter and Jim had
just saved the Princess from being forced to marry Bob the Killer Goldfish,
and they said adios to La Planeta De Agua (ariba!). They had to
fight some weird space creatures on their way, and Jim blasted them all
with his rocket-gun, not the gun he normally uses. He accidentaly shoot
Peter, and he turned into Peter Monster. He turned back to a puppy just
a few seconds later, so I guess this is a little different from the TV-show
(because you don't have to tickle him to make him turn back!). BUT, they
sometimes need a calm him down sometimes, make him laugh or entertain him,
to turn him back. Anyho, Peter explained that Professor Monkey-For-A-Head
had turned him into a part-way monster. So whenever he get hurt, or angry,
or even a little annoyed, he turn into a raving, uncontrallable monster.
And after more fighting and humor, they returned home to Jim's trailer
on earth, and Peter got his own house (a doghouse...). Maybe that was how
they met? Who knows...
